    For those wondering, the "kilogram" has a prototype weight that was made to be exactly 1kg, and used to regulate replicas that also weigh exactly 1kg and are given to countries around the world. But the weights all tend to gain or loss weight over time due to the fact that they have to be handled when used to set measurements for replicas and also have to be cleaned.
