Knighthood?
For a sport?
Hmmmmm.
Glad I'm not british.
Well unfortunately I can't tick enough boxes off to win that particular bingo board. I suck...
With F1 TV schedules difficult to track down, and recording made more difficult by DMCA implementations, I hardly ever catch any F1 anymore. What a coincidence that I caught the first Canadian since Jacques Villeneuve in 1997 to win a pole. (It was a little too cold that morning for me to go bicycling). The race itself was not on a TSN that I receive, however, so...
I almost remember the 1997 season. Oh wait, some of it's becoming clear as I see the "DSQ" for Michael Schumacher. But I am mixing it up with similar stuff in 1994 involving Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill.

Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head got knighthoods too.

I’d dare say if Hamilton did get knighted it would be well after his retirement.
You caused me to look up wikipedia and discover that Sir Stirling Crauford Moss, OBE died on 12 April 2020. At 90 years of age.
It’s unfortunate that you missed the news at the time.
And if you need a recap on the 1997 F1 season you could always turn to YouTube, or better yet drag out the old PS1… you know what to do
