Video of Hamilton's 1st British GP pole lap doesn't even look like he used DAS at all?

Can't find anymore footage of onboard views on youtube.

Whatever the reason, at least Mercedes learned their lessons and did not blow their tires again.

Max has certainly outdone himself last weekend. Thinking outside the box and ignoring engineer's warning to slow down in pursue of that win...

And I don't think they use it during the race outside of warm up and safety car.

DAS shouldn't be causing tire issues anyway. It's actually able to help front tires scrub less at the driver's command. And Mercedes was having rear tire issues last weekend, which DAS wouldn't have anything to do with one way or another.

My best guess is that the Mercedes has so much downforce (more than any other car) it's working the tires harder. We did see a McLaren lose a front tire at the first Silverstone race, and we did see other cars blister their tires last weekend. Mercedes probably could have gone a lot faster without tire trouble, and the fact they were nursing them that much and still had issues is worrying for them when track temp is high.

Lewis is a master at tire management nowadays but this time, Bono, the tires really are gone.

DAS got all the headlines but I think the most important innovation of the 2020 Mercedes is the rear suspension and the freedom that allowed to add more rear downforce. If you watch a Mercedes qualifying lap, particularly at Silverstone, the back end of that car is planted like no other in the high speed corners (while it's carrying more speed than the others to boot).

Yeah, since both Mercedes had front tire trouble, it's easy to assume DAS might be the reason, but I forgot McLaren also had front tire trouble in that 1st race...

However, regarding tire blisters, I thought they're usually caused by excessive lateral friction along the road surface direction... and shouldn't more down force alleviate that? Of course the extra down force pushing down on the tire side walls may cause excessive heat on the tires and that's why they increased tire pressures on the 2nd race?

Anyway, this is something even Mercedes is trying to figure out..., hope they'll never figure out so that this season can be more interesting...

    I'm right where I thought I'd be.

Also, Mercedes has always had issues with chewing up tires from way back when Schumacher was running with them. They'd set fast laps, then call flat after the halfway point due to tire troubles.

What's the fucking deal with Haas?
