I buy games when they're on sale and play gradually work through my backlog. Kind of like what PC gamers do with Steam/GoG/whatever sales, but at higher prices and lower volume.

And, if it's a full priced new release, it was probably for my wife to play.

I borrowed it from a friend.

It's decent enough. But I miss the free flowing fluidity of the previous titles.

Being gated by the game with earning points to buy cool shit is a bit frustrating.

Half the fun of the originals was blitzing through the license tests with all gold and selling off the shit vehicles, and using the good ones, so you could complete the early shitty races quickly and get into the meat and potatoes of the cars.

Starting with a Mazda2 by force is just drawing out the burnout.

I will say this, I'm playing the mini race at goodwood and holy fuck the game cheats big-time.

Those fuckers are running 110+ on the straightaway while my asthmatic vaping idiot of a hamster is peddling as fast as it can to hit 100 on the straights. Granted, I am doing this with a controller because I can't be arsed enough to move the PS5 upstairs to the sim rig.

I’m fairly certain that I remember the AI cars using performance upgrades. You’ll see them with custom wheels and body parts, as well as a few subtle liveries.

Considering buying psvr2 for this game which I barely play. However I have more incentive to play it than the other entries.

The AI have modded cars and you have to balance the PP of your car based on the individual needs of the race. In the case of that Mini race, you'll need one where all of the mods are speed oriented.

I didn't figure that out until the easier 600pp touring car race at Tokyo. My S13 could eat them up in the braking zones and corners, but simply didn't have the speed. My AMG Red Pig otoh, lumbered home to an easy win.

The Kei-car races are the worst for this, imo.

Yeah, I've tried a few things to maximize speed, even down to bump drafting to help catch, and I haven't been able to get the right combination.

I'm playing VR GT7 at a friend's tonight, it is REALLY impressive. Best resolution and viewing angle I've ever experienced, stable framerate, and since it actually fits with my glasses on I don't have to get it absolutely perfect to prevent blur.

I've never regretted my XBox Series X purchase more.

    I'd be all-in on a GT7+PSVR2 setup but...

A cheap, capable PC and a half-decent VR headset (2nd-hand for both) will cost the same as a PS5+PSVR2 and won't limit you to Sony's walled garden of software and hardware.

So that would open you up to a whole world of PC sims and their mods. Plus you can play all first-party Microsoft games because they're no longer tied to the hardware like they were before.

I know what you mean bro. Having said that, at the moment, the PSVR2 experience is probably the easiest and "more than good enough" turnkey solution for most people.

I also have a Quest Mk1 that my colleague gave me - it's OK but:

    1. there are desktop sensors that need to recalibrated if they are moved (this is inherent to the hardware but is also arguably a matter of my own setup);
    2. the space isn't really suitable for VR driving (which is my doing); and
    3. the lenses are still very low-resolution (probably inherent to the hardware).

That didn't stop me buying Rogue Squadron, playing it a bit of it in VR using a DS4, getting slight nausea, then buying a T16000M HOTAS set-up which I have used precisely ONCE since to play Ace Combat 7 on my monitor after Top Gun: Maverick came out.

So, yes, no time to play games.

I have played ACC on VR at the same friend's house with a borrowed headset (a Quest 2 maybe?). It was nice, but it wasn't as comfortable, the field of view wasn't as nice, the resolution wasn't as good, I couldn't wear my glasses while playing it, it wasn't as easy to adjust, it just...the PSVR2 just felt significantly better. I was wowed.

I am skeptical that I could beat the experience for $1000 on PC.
