I kinda like spring qualifying... and they should just indeed makes it a new qualifying format instead of calling it also a sprint race? Winner of this sprint thing will be the official 'polesitter' for Sunday's race.

With no tire strategies, no under/over cuts and nothing, flat out speed determines your sunday's starting position. If you tend to be reckless, you'll also most likely always start near the back end! Of course there will also be more chances of top contenders crashing out or ran into mechanical issues... thus giving greater chance of slightly slower cars a shot at front row.

Can't call it a race if they're all playing it safe for Sunday.

Yeah I'm not feeling the sprint qualifying at all.

The problem is you can't have both a race and then parc-ferme.

I wish they would do it on Fridays: have a short FP1, 3-tier lottery grid, then a race. Try different configurations for tire and DRS rules. Then you can call it a sprint race.

Maybe give half points down to P10 instead of the 3/2/1 for just P1-P3. This would make the drivers fight hard.

If they do that is like to see full points for a sprint race and double points for the full race, otherwise the results would be polluted by half points scores.

It would have no material effect on the championship, but I get fussy seeing non-integers in the standings.

Yeah probably a better idea. No one likes .5

If you take it too easy, you might lose position and get further behind the grid on Sunday! The main motivation should just be a better starting position on Sunday! Enticing the top 3 with points so the fast cars get dicier would increase the chance of them crashing and thus allowing the slightly slower cars a better starting position…

Anyway, I thought that weekend when Ricciardo won was pretty awesome. He also demonstrated that he well deserved the win.

Christian Horner believes Lewis Hamilton has rarely experienced the pressure being exerted by Verstappen this year, "especially through the championship years".
