King Charles has come and said he will not abdicate and will serve till his death.
So chances are that this is going to set a series of elderly kings, reigning in their 70s to 90s

Regina is now Rex. Court cases against the Crown have always been R v. (your last name). R was for Regina, Latin for Queen. Now it'll still be R v. (your last name), but R will be for Rex...you guessed it, Latin for King.
Public holiday on the 22nd not bhed
Could be a four-day weekend for a lot of people.
Interesting... "Mr Albanese said he had written to advise state and territory leaders of the holiday." - not sure if the Federal government has the power to actually do that, I thought the states controlled public holidays (and historically had big mixup on things like Australia day, with different rules if it fell on a weekend)
I guess he could invite them to make it a public holiday and you would look like a dick if you said no and every other state said yes. The PM gets to look like the good guy by him declaring it
And it doesn't mean much to unemployed bums like me!
I'll check my roster at work tomorrow. I hope I'm on!
We never close. Although they might reduce staff levels to account for a different workload if other departments close for the day.
While as an American I've not had a lot of exposure to the Queen's doings and responsibilities, everything I do know points to a person of class (talking words and actions, not socio-economic stuff). We could use a lot more of that in the world. In a world of gamey self serving politics, I see a lot of value in a role that A) encourages goodness by nature and B) isn't subject to elections that promote pandering, appealing to lowest common denominator, etc.
RIP Queen Elizabeth II.
