This makes it much more likely that I will buy an XBONE now.*

(When, if ever, I upgrade from the ol' 360. )

They wanted it to be, but with all the backlash they got rid of the requirement that it be plugged in before launch.

Be nice if they add backwards compatibility too.

Xbox One now 10% more powerful without Kinect.

‘In June we’re releasing a new SDK making it possible for developers to access additional GPU resources previously reserved for Kinect and system functions. The team is continually calibrating the system to determine how we can give developers more capabilities’, he added.

‘With this SDK, we will include new options for how developers can use the system reserve as well as more flexibility in our natural user interface reserve (voice and gesture). We’ll continue to work closely with developers to help them bring great games to Xbox One.’
    Also, cheaper.

More flexibility. Allow people to get an Xbone w/o kinect if they want. Cheaper.
    What's not to like?

You'd think Microsoft would be better at not trolling their customers by now.

    You'd be wrong.

We neither have nor need a standalone Xbox 360 thread so I'm just putting this here:

Xbox 360 Will Get 500 GB Hard Drive Soon

At the moment, pre-orders are not active for the accessory, but the price seems to be set at 109.99 dollars or Euro, which is quite a lot given the size of the hard drive.

Microsoft has said that it still has long-term plans to continue support for the Xbox 360 and to keep it relevant even as more and more gamers upgrade to the newer and the more powerful Xbox One. The older device can still perform well on secondary markets, where price is very important and Microsoft might soon introduce another price drop in order to make it more attractive.
I'm still good with my aftermarket 320GB drive but it's good to know that this is available.

This would have been nice a few years ago.

    20 here.

I probably should have upgraded a few years ago. Kind of moot now.
