So...last night I was looking at lenses, and considered buying a D800...and it sounded reasonable to me...

I've held the D750, it's a little small, but didn't feel bad, but i can get a D800 used for like 1700 when the 750 is new so not much used market yet

Is the 810 out? I bet that helps the D800 used market.

yea the 810 is out, i'm fine being back a generation. the 750 is smaller than my 600, which is the same size as a 7000, so gives you an idea

I should get a 24-70 and 2nd body. Then I could have the 24-70 and 80-200 always mounted. I do not know when or why I started to think like this but I'm not sure I enjoy it...

I get like that often. And then I try to remind myself of the ratio of how often I use them/how much they cost/how much i make. And then I try to justify it by thinking about making money doing weddings or whatever, and so on and so forth, until sanity wins out. ...so far. Video is what's really making my want a new body though.
As a hobby it's hard to justify more than what I have now: D300, 28-300VR, 50/1.8, 30/1.4, 10.5/2.8 fish. Actually I still have the 18-70 kit lens from the D70 and 100-300/4 from Sigma, but since getting the 28-300, I don't use either, ever.
