I was under the impression that they were all individual imports, but Hoffman may have been involved as well.
Whoomah!
Hoffman was the official importer before BMW set up their own shop in the US.
He is largely the reason why there is a 2002 in the first place. When the 1600-2 came out he was begging BMW to put in a bigger engine. They put in a hotter engine, the 1600ti but that ended up not passing emissions or something. Meanwhile, in Germany, a BMW exec had the 2.0 liter M10 installed in his own 1600, and it happened to be in for service at the same time as ... I don't remember the specifics anymore.
The engine made the same power as the hot 1.6 liter but with more torque. Marriage made in heaven.

That's also erroneously listed as a RWD V6 when it's certainly a FWD I4.
Considering the history, lineage and power of the ChryCo turbo 2.2L & 2.5L (and the FWD perf brigade in general), I'm kinda surprised that most perf enthusiasts still revile these brands of performance K-cars. Gen 1 Mitsu Eclipse cars seem to have a larger following when the build quality and the achievable performance levels is the effectively the same.
Will a minty/restored '90-'91 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z (my personal fave body style) ever cross the Barrett Jackson floor? #no

Man, do I want that Rampage something fierce.
But first I need someone to explain what a four million dollar car is doing in Lodi. Seriously.
One of my first cars was a '90 Daytona ES w/the Mitsu V6. I really got into them back then, really wish I hadn't biffed it. I'm 'actively' searching for one right now with a future project in mind.
Something like this would suit me: https://lancaster.craigslist.org/cto...235132999.html
Very cool.
My gift to you on your future project:
De-mystifying and Bulletproofing the OBX LSD
HOW TO: Field strip an OBX LSD
OBX LSDs are a popular LSD to put into Turbo Dodges -- but they aren't necessarily plug 'n' play. Some finishing work is needed for best results.

A Cobb Stage 3 Power Package Ford Fiesta ST is gonna peak at just under 250 HP at the crank. Not an impossible figure to hit with a Turbo II. #spendingotherpeoplesmoney
