I would go Ford V10, personally.

Easy button is probably the 7.3 diesel.

    But they're so obvious!

    What about a Jaguar V12? Cadillac 500?

How the eff did Paul smog his turbo 6er?

The Space Van is incredibly intriguing, but I'm am wondering exactly what the broken ice maker consists of? My friend had a 4WD Space Van in high school, and the thing was terrifying. Partly on account of his driving, but IIRC the 4WD models had a couple extra inches of ground clearance. I wish it was closer, because I would go look at it today! Maybe that Revcon will get up to SJ this weekend and I can do both. (What could possibly be weirder than buying an RV and a Space Van on one trip?)

My guess is that he smogged it NA and then re-installed the turbo. Heh.

The smog-legal way to put a car like that together would be to use the contemporary 745's engine, but it doesn't sound like he did that.
