And Peter Sagan finished 35th after two punctures. He is admitted that even without the punctures he wouldn't have been able to finish in the top ten.

Are road cycling and xc so different as sports?

Checking in a few hours later and it appears Photobucket accepted my last upload after all. Thanks for the imgur suggestion, Tom, but I dread setting up any more user names and passwords at new sites. I can't remember the ones I already have, and it seems like everyone wants me to set up some new sign-in somewhere to do the most basic things that used to be password-free and come with a toll-free phone number. This latest has been a pain the royal arse with everything about my new job - health insurance, 401K, etc. Got a question? Just log in to our website and....nah, screw you, companies who won't pay employees to answer the phones. I won't play that game. You could at least try and outsource your American workers to India, like my last gig did...

Anyway, here are some rather boring pictures from this morning's ride.

    Spoiler:

We have some really w-i-d-e bike lanes out here. What was amazingly obvious in person but nearly invisible in this picture is a huge daytime moon in about the center of this picture. It looked awesome enough in person to make me pull over, hop the curb, and take this picture. Eh, why bother, after seeing what looks like one white pixel on screen compared to a giant wow, would ya look at that! moon in real life.

I seldom carry a lock, but on weekend grocery runs, I make an effort - however weak by big-city standards - to lock it up in the fairly safe suburb where we live. No way I'd leave it like this in downtown Denver, where I've seen two bikes stripped while locked up since I started my new job in late April. When I say I've seen two bikes stripped, I don't mean I've seen two stripped bikes, but rather two bikes locked up whole that had fewer and fewer parts on them on subsequent days walking between the train station and my office.

The last time I came this way, I was on my road bike. Needless to say, the mountain bike (now with the go-fast street tires back on it) still needed dismounting and portaging over this surprisingly fierce obstacle.

See? I told ya this was a post full of boring pictures.

This giant, man-eating thorn bush was about nine feet tall and right next to the bike path behind a shopping center. Once again, my camera doesn't do justice to the fearsome appearance or the sharp, thorny, gonna-kill-ya balls o' death growing all over this ugly shrubbery.

I think so. There are different skill sets, particularly with bike handling. Sagan is a great bike handler but I think maybe he doesn't have the level of XC handling practice that the XC specialists have. He's been a bit too busy on the road. I'm sure that without the punctures, he would have done a lot better but I suspect that getting near the top might have been a bit much to ask.

Of course, he wouldn't have done much better in the road event this Olympics either. That hill was a bit brutal and they had to climb it three times.

The really nice thing about imgur is that you don't need an account. You literally hit the upload button, tell it what files you want to host, and it comes back with an album of the images. Then, from any one, you can get a share link. No account required.

EDIT: I realize it's also the wrong thread, but I have the same complaints as you about remembering usernames and passwords and highly recommend just getting a password safe. I use KeePass, but there are many others. Now I just have one really long passphrase that would take centuries for even the fastest computers to brute force, and let the app generate randomized passwords for me. I then keep the password database on Dropbox. That gives me two layers on it - you'd have to compromise my dropbox, then compromise my password safe passphrase to get to my passwords. In the meantime, I don't even know what my passwords are, I just tell KeePass to copy it to my clipboard and paste it into the field on the page.

An added benefit is that you never reuse a password on more than one site. I got burned by that pretty badly when I didn't take my passwords as seriously and Gawker got compromised.

So, short version: You don't need an account with imgur to host images, and a password safe, once you learn the routine of using it, will be your new best friend.

And now, back to bike stuff.

I now upload most of my pictures to the Random hosting service, as you can see.

To wit... (Though in most senses the following is not "my picture"...)

    Deleted again. Last link now.

Can't believe they keep deleting a video of skunks.
