After more than two decades, Christchurch (city in the South Island of NZ) no longer will have a paid wizard.

The council’s contract with The Wizard called for him “to provide acts of wizardry and other wizard-like-services – as part of promotional work for the city of Christchurch”.

To be fair, most of that could be said of regular candy corn.

Not really sure where to exactly put this, so here. Daily puzzle, where you have to guess the five letter word. You have six tries.

    Enjoy!

Interesting twist on the concept. Really struggled with today's, not sure I care enough to remember to try tomorrow's.

    4 guesses!

I 'waltz' into this game not knowing what I was doing... then I 'begin' to seriously thinking about what other 5 letter words I can use, but still only got 3 out of order letters... so I made multiple 'sighs' thinking I'll probably never get it..., then boom! I got it on my 4th attempt!

    4 guesses?

    Nice!

I solved today's puzzle, but I admit I had to cheat.

I was writing a list with paper and pen and just couldn't come up with anything by trial and error after my fourth out of six guesses. I had the first, third, and fifth letters correct at that point.

    How to cheat:

    Spoiler:
    Go here: https://www.wordgamedictionary.com/w...-letter-words/

Once I figured out the first letter from a lucky guess, I copied all the words that began with that letter and pasted them into Excel. There were 1,111 words - yes, one thousand one hundred eleven that began with today's first letter.

I used the Text To Columns function to split the five-letter words into five columns and used filters to remove letters that I knew weren't in the puzzle from the second and fourth columns, leaving me with a pretty short list. I chose the most common of the words and that was it.

It was not a very common word, but not unheard-of, either...especially to those interested in...

    Spoiler:
    ...military history.
