Definitely appears to be bullshit, but posted by "Hooligans.cz Official"'s account on Twitter with a community note saying it's fake and Kroos neither said that nor has he switched his number from 8.

However, I did see something that Adidas has temporarily suspended the ability to customize jerseys you order from them because of the two 4's looking like the SS logo and halted deliveries of jerseys with the number 44. That one at least looks like a non-April Fool's joke to me - despite being reported on on 4/1, there are articles about it on CNN, BBC, The Guardian, and others.

i was going to say that the typeface looked legit, however i was under the impression that national team player numbers didn't go above 23*, but I've since seen them in high twenties or lower thirties.

* as national teams can only register 3 goalies and 20 field players.
