One of my FB friends was on the 3rd floor of a hotel in Mexico City when it hit. Minor damage to the room but they are OK.

    We're ok, thanks for asking.

It was a long one. Not particularly violent but it could have been bad had it been a little stronger or longer.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, but from my purely amateur eye it seems like there have been a ton of 6+ quakes along the edges of the pacific plate. Very happy to hear you're okay, Mario.

I'm also glad you're OK Mario.

How far were you from it? I thought you were further south.

People get so worked up over 5's. Pffft. A 7 is some real shit though.

It didn't feel that bad. I don't know if I can explain myself but it didn't have the violence of the combined motions. It was just a groovy sort of back and forth movements. It felt like the energy took a lot more time be released.

I'm in the city of Oaxaca, normally earthquakes originate underneath the Ometepec mountains, on the border of the states of Guerrero and Oaxaca, some 30 miles away from the coast. I guess I'm roughly some 200 miles from the epicenter.

200 miles from a 7 is enough to feel it but not too bad.
