Well I know that both of those were involved but I can't remember whose idea it was in the first place.

It's been awhile since I read the books- But as I recall that wasn't firmly established, but all textual indications are that
    Spoiler:
    Emma Peel

Recently realized that there's an HBO GO app for PS3. I re-watched the first episode of the first season and it was interesting how many things I picked up on that I didn't notice originally.

For example, Daenerys gets into a hot bath and the maid tries to stop her because it's too hot and she gets in anyway, having no reaction to the heat. It seemed irrelevant when I first saw this episode. Now it's foreshadowing.

Also, noticing various characters that are barely there in this episode but have more significant roles later like Theon and the Hound. Even Hodor's there. Completely forgot that Ned had a brother in the Night's Watch.

Dude, you need to use her full, 50-word long title. Else it doesn't count.

She didn't have her long title yet at that point in the story.

That was a well executed and paced battle! I really enjoyed it... and by not reading the books... I was at the edge of my seat not knowing what was going to happen next. That said, there were a couple of issues I had with the episode:

    - The long one shot scene of the battle inside Castle Black was a bit too CGI for me. It felt like watching one of those scenes from The Lord of the Rings movies where the camera is far off and showing the party scrambling away from enemies in a cave. The close up battle scenes were MUCH more thrilling and believable.
    - That said, much of the CGI was quite good. I couldn't tell who acted better when faced with the loss of their loved one... Jon Snow... or that Ice Giant.
