So there was a scene cut that showed Sansa going to Bran for help and finding out everything that's going on. I think most assumed that was the case, but they could have had a like 10 sec. scene where all it was was Sansa going to Bran, and the audience would infer the rest.

Cutting that scene gave the "twist" at the trial more dramatic punch.

Agreed. And frankly I'm not considering the deleted scene to be canon. Littlefinger getting Littlefinger'd is way more interesting than going to human Google.
