More Honda V8 F1 engine photos, this time piston and rod. Note the inlet valves are compound angle (the point towards each other) while the exhaust valves are parallel.

2008 Honda F1 inlet ports and cams - the compound angle of the valves is taken up in the cam profile itself which is an impressive piece of grinding. Gears on both ends of the cam are to counteract the stab torques produced compressing the (air) valve springs and reduce twist.
2008 Honda #F1 V8 gear-train. What I particularly like about this arraignment is the large diameter bearings as apposed to using pins and thrust washers. Amazed by the curved joint face to the front cover.
2008 Honda #F1 V8 front cover which astonishingly is made of steel - it's a casting to accommodate a single un-machinable passage. The casting is then 95% (give or take) machined. The mass (to comply with regs) is in the centre of the car so good for polar moment of inertia.
