    New Smyrna Beach airport races, Florida, 1957. Marvin Panch (No. 98 Ford Thunderbird "Battlebird") with Carroll Shelby (Ferrari 410 Sport 4.9-liter V12) right next to him at the start of the feature race. Shelby dominated the race, winning by a lap. Panch finished second.



    Riverside, November 26, 1967. F1 World Champion John Surtees (No. 24 John Mecom/Bowes Seal Fast Lola-Ford) in the Rex Mays 300 USAC Champ Car Series race. Surtees qualified fourth in his only start in an Indianapolis-type racing car, but retired early with ignition problems.
