Huzzah! Figured out the flight plan/auto pilot stuff, and it worked fantastically. Currently watching a Cesna(?) make its way up the west coast during sunrise.

Now to better figure out camera controls, and hopefully hide all the UI elements

Yeah youíll want to invert the camera axiseseses.

Iíll also suggest turning the left stick sensitivity down to -80% so that flight manoeuvres arenít as twitchy.

Soooo any hints on hiding UI stuff even in drone mode? Like POI markers, and the top bar? (I realize I'm playing the game wrong lol)

I think the POI markers are in accessibility. The top menu on PC turns off if you slide the mouse cursor away from it. I believe it's an on/off toggle on the controller for Xbox players.

Alright, for fellow Xbox players, finally figured it out.

Up on the directional pad hides the menu bar once it’s closed. POI markers, nav markers, etc are all within the difficulty screens. A little cumbersome to flip off for when you just want to watch an auto flight, but not the biggest deal.

Speaking of auto flight… I ran a flight from DC to Philly to NYC today during sunset, while it was storming in the area. Absolutely gorgeous in game, they did a fantastic job. There’s some graphical glitches here and there for whatever reason though (ghosting around the plane, HDR issues with lightning, etc)

Hilariously, though, the AI absolutely failed at landing by the time it got to NYC. It ignored the runway entirely, and just flew straight into the side of a hangar

Also, on the bug front, I’ve been slowly working through the training, and was doing the Taxi training. Every time I tried it, the plane would shoot off after unlocking the brake and gradually increasing the throttle, then it’d reset, and the FPS would drop to about 3fps. Can’t complete it, currently. It’s just that specific “mission”, as well. Because afterwards I tested it out in a world flight and it worked just fine.

That world flight was a flight around the La Mesa area of San Diego, my home area. Found my old apartment, high school, taco joint and college! Was pretty cool. Also landed on a street… which then caused the game to freak out once again, drop to 2fps, and I had to exit out. Part of landing on the street was wanting to see what the fidelity was like at that level, because I think this tech is really neat… and well, we’re still a ways away from using this tech for a street level game Still though, really really cool for it’s intended purpose. It’s like a really fancy Google Earth!

And yes, I’m aware that I’m completely missing the point of the game, but I’m enjoying it anyways

A year ago people were trying to stall-land on top of that abnormally tall building in Melbourne

For my first international trip, I wanted to go to Vanuatu, since I was lucky enough to go there years ago and was enamored by it… needless to say, the little island nation is not modeled at all in the game, poor guys.

Also, finally figured out how to “fast forward” via the Sim Speed settings and trying to find a controller bind that’ll work. Another Xbox limitation, in that the system cannot handle going too fast, otherwise it freaks the fuck out haha. But at least I can fast forward through some bits better now. Unfortunately doesn’t work while in AI Auto Pilot mode, so I have to make sure I’m in the air nicely before doing anything dumb (no, I didn’t learn a lesson, what do you mean)

You might also see if you can do slew mode on the XBox, lets you just sorta teleport yourself around.

Surprisingly excited that you basically got the same initial thrill out of it that I did - see places you know but from the air. I spent days just cruising around my folks neighborhood, my neighborhood, places I've been, etc.

Still haven't found that weird tower in Tel Aviv that I worked near, but I think they may purposely hide it.
