    From the FAQ.
    -------------
What are the points and money per race?
    Basically this is very simple:

You get 2.000.000 per race regardless if you scored any points just having a complete team is enough.

You can earn some extra cash when you guessed the pole time right. The more accurate you are the more money you earn.

You get 50.000 per point you score with your complete team (incomplete teams don't get points)

You get points for all of your team items (driver 1, driver 2, chassis and engine).

Only the first 10 in the qualify and the race get points.

The point distribution is as follows:
    Qualify: (Drivers)
    1. 25
    2. 18
    3. 15
    4. 12
    5. 10
    6. 8
    7. 6
    8. 4
    9. 2
    10.1

    Race (Drivers)
    1. 50
    2. 36
    3. 30
    4. 24
    5. 20
    6. 16
    7. 12
    8. 8
    9. 4
    10.2

Qualify & Race: (Chassis and Engine)
    1. 25
    2. 18
    3. 15
    4. 12
    5. 10
    6. 8
    7. 6
    8. 4
    9. 2
    10.1

The pole time allows you to estimate the pole position time of the Q3 qualification. When you fill in the pole time very accuratly you can earn some extra budget for the race. You don't get any points for it.

When guessing the pole time very accuratly you can earn some serious extra budget:
    Difference in ms - Budget
    0 - 10.000.000
    <11 - 2.000.000
    <51 - 1.500.000
    <101 - 1.000.000
    <201 - 750.000
    <301 - 500.000
    <401 - 250.000
    <501 - 100.000

If you are off more than half second you don't earn any extra money.

That sounds awfully complicated, mate! You see, we're a bit on the lazy side of Fantasy Sports.
I'll keep this thread on the radar, maybe it will get enough attention.

I'm interested in something that is a touch more complicated that I can alter stuff throughout the race. I doubt I'll have time this season though with the new job right around the corner.

For reference, a pole time estimate around 0.8s quicker than Practice 3 is often a decent guess; although a rainy weekend can make you look very silly indeed :/

Well it's not so difficult, and I'm happy to coach a bit.

You're not going to be competing for top honors unless you start at race 1; on the other hand, you could get some familiarization ready for the start of next year. Also, if a few guys start now, you can compete between each other.

You get a budget of $100M and you only score anything if you enter a complete team. The cheapest possible team is $21M + $22M + $23M + $23M = $89M leaving $11M of discretionary budget available for upgrades. Trades cost you 10% of the item you sell, so a fee of between $2M and $5M per trade; so you don't want to be trading willy-nilly.

The two viable starting strategies are:

    - the boring one. Buy the $89M team and collect $2M appearance money each race until you can afford a high points scoring engine or chassis

    - the more interesting one. Spend the extra $11M to get the best engine or chassis you can afford (hint: Williams or Force India chassis) and hope you accumulate more prize money than you lose on your trades, and hope that you don't have to wait an extra race or two to trade up to Mercedes etc. which would normally bring in the big money and points.

So you are pretty much not going to be managing your roster the majority of weeks in the first half of the season.

What you will be doing is checking the practice times and putting in your pole time estimate before the start of Qually 1 in the hope of picking up that pole time bonus and thereby enabling that Mercedes update that little bit sooner (unless, of course, you decide that your Williams / Force India is actually going to score more than Mercedes )

PS. Congratulations and good luck with the new job!!

    The GTBN mini-league entry is:

    League: GTBN
    Password: racer

Or I guess we could set up a GTXF mini-league if there is interest...
