Hah, I had no idea they were Canadian - they're really popular out here at any rate. They're also associated with the Landmark Forum, which is about one step away from a cult.

It is time. I'm tired of my 12 year old plasma with burn in.

QLED, or OLED? (I've admittedly sat on the bench for the last several years and not researched a single goddamn thing)

I'm a Samsung whore, but could also go LG, unless anyone has a better suggestion (Sony, I would presume?).

    No games, just TV/Movies.

If you want the best movie experience possible, then check out the Sony A90J OLED. It doesn't have any of the gaming features of the LG C1 OLED, and even though those may come in a future firmware update, it's not as good for gaming because it has higher input lag. However, it comes with a different panel type that allows it to get brighter, especially in HDR, so most small highlights stand out the way the creator intended. It also has much better out-of-the-box accuracy and improved gradient handling, meaning it displays colors accurately and without any banding. The built-in Google TV has a massive selection of apps through the Google Play store, and it supports Dolby Vision, but not HDR10+, meaning some content may be limited to HDR10.

If you're looking for the best TV with an OLED panel that we've tested, you can't go wrong with the LG, but if you want something that offers a better movie experience, the Sony is an excellent choice too.
Get that weak shit off my track

I went with the A80 (will be delivered Tuesday). The A90 has a gloss screen, the 80 matte. There are many other differences, of which, none of them were important enough for me to drop another $1000 on the 90.

I've intentionally loaded (and will wait) to watch Black Widow and Shang Chi until it's here. Then likely a whole ton of other shit.

Sweet as. Be sure to use the recommended settings on Rtings as your starting point. I basically use them verbatim on my telly.

And importantly don't be surprised if film content seems fairly dark even if your backlight is cranked right up (it should be at 100% for HDR anyway). Half the point of HDR is to tell each pixel exactly how brightly it should be displaying. Sometimes this means running it dark like inside a movie theatre.

Sometimes it depends on the film. Black Widow looks great, but I remember Black Panther looking too dim to watch during the day.

Next, sample some Gran Turismo Sport, Horizon Zero Dawn, Forza Horizon 5... oooh yeah!
