The problem I see with “find something new” is it has a bit of a backhanded connotation coming from a Trump. I think most people will interpret it as such. Maybe she should’ve tried “start something new” or “try something new”.

Either way, those words of advice apply to almost everyone, even in the best of times. A lot of people feel stuck and unfulfilled in their careers year round. That’s a topic for another discussion.

Could Donald engineer a swap in for Ivanka or does it have to be Pence in case Trump says "Fuck it"? Would the GOP go along with it?

I'm not aware of anything that would allow a president to just tag in whatever teammate they wanted and then bow out. I've gotta imagine that's not possible, otherwise imagine the shenanigans that could happen, like Biden getting elected and then immediately swapping out for Hillary.

He probably could dump Pence and make her VP and then play dead if that's what he really really wants.

    Ooh! Ooh!

    *raises hand*

Spiro Agnew was Richard Nixon's first vice president. Agnew resigned. Nixon appointed Gerald Ford as VP. Nixon then resigned. Ford became president.

Ford was elected to the House of Representatives, but he was never elected vice president or president.

Granted, Ford had to be confirmed by both houses of Congress, and that could potentially quash the kind of shenanigans being discussed here, especially with an unqualified and/or unpopular nomination, but it has happened before.

Remarks from Trump's press conference yesterday...

Yes. It's true that the US never even asked for most-favored trade status with...itself.
