It's bizarre. They just did that leak of Comey's memos, and I'm not sure what they were hoping to accomplish in there. I don't see anything that helps Trump in them, unless he wanted the world to know that Putin told him that Russian prostitutes are the most beautiful.

Chances are the leak was strategic. In that, only the things everyone already new about was released as a "look at this nothing burger. No new content here", all while holding back actual revelations.

See, you'd think it was strategic if it in any way helped, but it doesn't support any of Trump's accusations, chief of which being that he leaked classified documents. From what I gather, none of them are marked classified.

That being said, I do think that Rosenstein's "you're not a target" announcement was strategic. If DJT thinks he's not on the radar, he may not fire anyone, all while the investigation continues, and he is most definitely got the crosshairs on him.
