    Newsflash: Mortal Kombat is violent

ok, title is a bit sarcastic, but I actually kinda agree with the sentiment of this article

    http://www.hlntv.com/article/2014/06...ersy?hpt=hp_t4

It's basically saying that the violence might be getting a bit too realistic or extreme and not the far out kind we saw in the original games. I like the element of "that couldn't really happen", like sonya using just her legs to rip someone in half, for example.

Gotta see where the line is, and then pull back from it. It has shown to be pretty far, considering all the gore-porn horror movies of the last decade or so.

Tipper was ok looking; kind of ironic given her participation in the PMRC business, though.

I think the gore back then was more or less ok (though there was controversy), because the graphics were fairly simple... now? Well, they can show every drop and skin shred... so I think this is a case where "HD" backfires a bit.

Edit: Whoops, the first is MK 9

    MK X

    MK 1:

There's plenty of dismemberment in the original, it's just so low res that it's kinda ok.

    I can see that...

Wasn't there a game where you were forced to kill people as gruesomely as possible as part of a show, or something?

They made a sequel? I'm surprised that game made it onto shelves in the first place.

They use heavy video filters to obscure the executions in Manhunt 2, so Manhunt ends up being the more violent one (according to this review)
