I'm not a fan of the Grateful Dead either, but two of my good friends that play in a band together are. They both play acoustic guitar, and are cousins. They are also neighbors, AJ lives next door and Bryan a block away. So we get together often for beers and guitars. This video is them playing this past weekend.

I just think it would be really cool to get this pack and secretly learn some Dead to surprise them, because I never try to play along with them when they're playing one of their songs.

No doubt. If I had friends that were into the Dead, I would probably do the same (though so much of their stuff seems like a main rhythm surrounded by improvised noodling, which seems hard to memorize, but maybe that's the not the point).

Since I've been starting to be able to hit pinch harmonics vaguely at will, I really want to learn the riff from Cemetary Gates. I see this taking many months.

Stillborn by Black Label Society uses a lot of pinch harmonics.

Yeah that's a great riff and fun when you can nail it. Watch this video starting at around the 19:45 point to see him play it at a clinic-- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k226LOnrk44

That started with an ad, where some guy said that he invented the B2. I got all excited...the bomber?!? Nope, some shitty boombox called the "B2".

Also, it is quite clear I've got a *looooong* way to go before I'm even close to that.

    • Queen - I Want it All
    • REO Speedwagon - Take it on the Run (Alt. Rhythm)

AFAIK, all songs E Standard, but will update if I find out otherwise.
