Is he the riffrepeater dude on YouTube? 3 Days Grace I hear sometimes on one of the radio stations I listen to. I used my Music ID phone to identify them, they do sound similar to a lot of groups, so I guess that makes them rather formulatic and over produced sounding.

Never bought them on i-tunes, but two of there songs have crunchy catchy power chords that don't sound overly complex and might be fun for me to practice with.

He might be, his blog is called The Riff Repeater, so that'd make sense.

Linkin Park? Might as well learn how to play it on a real guitar, it's probably easier.

Next up is Power Ballads just in time for Valentine's Day. Sounds like we know all but one of the songs, but we know all five bands.

Boston - Either "Something About You" or "Amanda"
Cinderella - Don't Know What You've Got ('Til It's Gone)
Extreme - More Than Words (God, I fucking hate this song)
Poison - Every Rose Has Its Thorn
    Tesla - Love Song

One of my all time favorite albums is Tesla's Mechanical Resonance. So I would be all over that.

Amanda is based around acoustic guitar, can you use one with the program?

Edit: Yes I know that Love Song is on The Great Radio Controversy. Just sayin I'm a fan of Tesla especially Mechanical Resonance.

In my experience you really need a decent/good pickup with an acoustic guitar or the game doesn't hear it too well.

Sorry, yeah, I'd somehow conflated Rock Band and Rocksmith in my head.

Yes, I actually have Rocksmith and have hooked it up to my guitar before, but couldn't get my head around it being the reverse of tablature. That, and no time, no space, etc. etc.

EEeww, ballads, wretch. Skip. I paid lifetime membership to Ultimate Guitar, got the pro tabs for Mongoloid by Devo. Spent a while practicing that before the Superbowl with my little Orange amp and Swollen Pickle pedal.......just a simple good time.

YW, you can flip the display in-game to be more like tablature. For me, the two forms of notation are different enough that I don't really have a problem switching between them, but I know a lot of people who do flip it.

I also haven't heard a lot of success stories with acoustic, but in theory anything that has a pickup should work. I saw something recently about someone getting their violin to work with it.
