The book(s) Altered Carbon is based on is pretty good, I'll probably start the show sometime this week.

It's been slow for me so far. Too clean, even the gritty is clean.

Anyone else watching The Cloverfield Paradox on Netflix? Revealed during the Super Bowl and looks damn high-quality!

I can barely remember the first Cloverfield. I might have it on DVD. Gotta do some digging. Then I’ll check this new one out.

Cloverfield Lane was great up until the last three minutes when it became a completely different movie.

    Well...

    Spoiler:
...I found the movie to fizzle.

I like the cast (Zhang Ziyi!), I like the sets, I like the premise -- but man did they not push things far enough.

It was setting itself up to be an Event Horizon simulacrum with bits of both Michael Crichton's Sphere and John Carpenter's The Thing thrown in for good measure. What a combo! What shoes to fill!

Which ultimately The Cloverfield Paradox didn't do. Just didn't push the body horror far enough and didn't push the existential/dimensional horror far enough. Too bad, could have really set a new bar for space horror with this one.

Also Chris O'Dowd is still a treasure. #mancrush

I love him. Wish he did more projects I care about.

Don’t have to dig after all, it’s already on Netflix. Didn’t know that Cloverfield Lane was part of the series too. I watched Cloverfield and about 15 minutes of Cloverfield Lane, then paused it and started playing the New York Times Crossword app. Then passed out.

    Back at it tonight.
