I consider myself to be somewhat friendly with the warehouse manager where I work. We talk out of work hours. He has been to my house. I’ve been to his house. We’ve ridden our motorcycles together.
I’m laying in hospital and I get a text from him today. They need my set of keys to be returned somehow. I say that’s fine, I have them here. I can give them to someone or he could pick them up himself (as a hint-hint come and visit me type suggestion).
He replies with, no, can’t do that. They need to be brought in. I haven’t replied but I am not going to take that very diplomatically.
My priorities were already being turned somewhere else. This makes it even harder to go back to them when I recover.

^ There must be a story there. Good luck in finding something else, if you want something else. I don't claim to know but I think I thought you were in graduate school...or maybe teaching graduate school.
