I still cant believe they dont have restrictions on the people working quarantine.
No second jobs, no large family with kids going to school.
We already knew that was a weak link in the Victorian system, how was this not handled for other places.
Its good to reduce the risk for people working in the quarantines, but we also need to make sure their personal bubble is small in case there is an issue.
Sure this would mean some people couldnt do the job, but surely there are enough who can do it and meet a bubble rule. Even if we need to pay them double/triple what they are getting. Thats a small price compared to what it costs if it goes wrong.

Yeah, ideals often can't be easily put into practice.

People who are afraid of COVID19 and would take all necessary precautions against it most likely won't take such jobs no matter how much you pay them. So you are left with people who need the money and/or not afraid of contracting the virus to take these kind of jobs...

Just heard there’s 50% positivity in South Dakota. Holy fuck. We had 1 new case from almost 20,000 tests yesterday, and that person was already in quarantine as a close contact of the recent cluster. Yet, there’s the Governor of South Dakota saying she won’t stop anything over thanksgiving. It’s like the rest of the world (sans NZ - all hail Saint Jacinda!) has turned into bizzaro-land.
