Random used to drive tourist versions in California? With cut-off tops?

Such a classic, janky old design. Must've felt like a lino and chipboard showroom on wheels.

I believe those were made by AEC? (Actually, so were Routemasters)
So in what country did you drive them? Both pictures seem to mention "Davis", but the top one appears to have a British licence plate.
You can't be more than 50 years old at the most. The AEC's can't have been anything like current models when you were driving them.
Seem to have been some inaccuracies in the Flanders&Swann song. (How about that?) Rather than 97 horsepower it seems the buses had 200+; still seems a bit leisurely from a 9.6 liter(!) engine. I don't think the stated dimensions of 30 foot long by 10 foot wide matched any real-life models, either.

Yeah, they were quite old by the time I was driving them in 93-97.
Here's a former Unitrans bus (a Leyland RTL) back in London as part of the Ensignbus Vintage Fleet:

Ah yes. The Leyland ones were very similar to the AEC Regent, but I think I read were a bit wider, a full 8 feet.
So now I'll think of you if I ever again watch reruns of On the Buses.
An apparent Regent Lego model. LHD, the odd route identifier shows the photo is not reversed.

Also I can't wait to see what they do with the ship in a bottle. The policy is to avoid connecting transparent pieces together as they're made from polycarbonate, not ABS like normal pieces, and over time they can actually fuse together making them nearly impossible to pull apart. Will they go for fewer, larger pieces, or something entirely different?
And the build experience... normally building a ship in a bottle is a tricky task. Will Lego try to do something according to tradition?

I would buy that if the set included a Lego hammer to put together if/when you got fucked off at the ship and bottle assembly.
A hammer you had to assemble.

(Still obsessed with a Leyland-like bus for Russ) I find the following...
https://thelegocarblog.com/2015/04/1...8-at-13-43-08/
But I don't know enough to be able to translate that into a set number, if it ever was one.
It looks (they look) to be slightly more than 1/2 scale of the 10258-1 Routemaster set.
Getting all-red bricks for the Regent version might be challenging.
The following inline deserves to fail...
I wonder what the story is behind the strange roof front on the Regent, also.
Further research suggests the Regent is a pre-war STL version. But I can't find any real-life picture with the strange roof. http://www.hattons.co.uk/11740/EFE_9...ockDetail.aspx suggests the livery is WWII era London Transport.
