Toyota was again USA's most popular car brand. Ford came second thanks to a double-digit growth posted by the F-150, the top-seller. Nissan and Tesla were the brands that gained more positions within the top 10, sending out Ram out of it. Source: JATO (https://twitter.com/lovecarindustry/status/1749466913086874035)

Jetta sales have tanked along with sedans in general over the past several years, and the Tiguan is about to be replaced with a new model.

The notable cars in this picture are the M5 and the Pathfinder. :D I drove a Pathy exactly like that one while I lived in England. It was a diesel manual and other than being slow it was awesome. I miss the truck-framed Nissan SUVs. [Gimme an XTerra for adventures and light towing!]

The final Mazda Cosmo, launched in 1990, was the company's rotary-engined flagship. Sold under the Eunos marque, it was only offered in Japan. A luxury coupé, its two power units included a mighty triple-rotor twin turbo engine, unique to the model (https://twitter.com/addict_car/status/1755153086853652809)

The Cosmo was the world's first production car to have built-in GPS navigation. The triple-rotor version was capable of 158mph (though limited to 111 in Japan). Under 9,000 units of this remarkable car were made before production ended in 1995; Eunos was laid to rest soon after.

Eunos was one of a trio of additional marques Mazda debuted in Japan during a confusing time of almost reckless expansion from 1989 (the others being Autozam and Ēfini). Eunos also made a fleeting appearance abroad - this 800 brochure is from Hong Kong.

Interesting, never see those being imported to the U.S since they're past the 25 year rule.....too many rotary issues?

I've seen JC Cosmos on JDM importer sites before, but in addition to there only being 8853 of them ever made, I don't think there's that much demand for JDM Mazdas that aren't RX-7s.

ah that's a very low number. I love the styling though, especially from the back.

Rode in a Porsche Taycan for the first time today. Was fine. What shocked me is that, as a 6'2" person, getting in and out of the back seat was significantly easier than it is for the current Subaru Outback. Didn't hit my head/wrench my neck once.

Toyota has been hinting at another MR2 for a bit and the hints keep coming.

We've seen a few concept cars and rumors that they would replace things like the GR Yaris with an MR2 with possibly the same engine. Also, Japanese magazines keep thinking there's something to it, and releasing their own "possible" concepts.

Also, about a week ago, the Toyota USA instagram feed featured a 1995 Toyota MR2 Turbo for some reason...just seemingly randomly...which, sure it could be...but then..

We get this info from Episode 3 of their uh, anime series called "GRIP", as mentioned in this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpgWDi77_30

What's more interesting is that shortly after it was featured...the episode (trailer, whatever) itself from Toyota was removed. Was it because they were hinting too early? Was it going to have another design revision? Was it something they've decided not to do?

I only noticed the thumbnail for this video at first, thinking it was some weird custom, badly designed retro-modern job...not the newest flagship Cadillac...because.....um....... :twitch:

Looks like an Acura...

That said, I'm pretty happy they didn't just do something with an Escalade.

That b-pillar touch button to open the door will at some point fail to work and it'll be the most frustrating thing possible.

EDIT: I actually kinda love it. It's so much more out there than a Rolls. I would never buy one, even if it was in my price range, but I love that they just kinda went bonkers with it and there's nothing really out there that's anything like it.

I think I'd like it better in another color, that reddish orange is very odd, though bold colors are rare these days.

I'm the opposite, the color is the most interesting thing about it for me. Other than that it's just some ultraluxe thing, and eh whatever.

Tom Servo

It's just some ultraluxe thing to be sure, but if you told me I could have this, a Maybach, or a Rolls, I'm picking the Cadillac.

I get "modern day Citroen DS" vibes from it. The sloping rear roof treatment, general proportions (though much longer I'm sure!), and some out-of-the-box thinking.

I like it.

Electric? Heck no! Rear-mounted, air-cooled, and carbureted, of course! :D
