Well, that was epic. There was an amazing, historically significant car everywhere you looked, to the point I would look over and see 'ah, an Alfa TZ2, must go and see that in a sec', and then get distracted by a row of 1920s LSR holders and forget to go round to see the Alfa. I arrived before 9am and left at 5pm, basically spent an entire working day just looking at amazing cars. The access is incredible - Graham Hill's actual 1967 Lotus 49 (as driven ineptly by me in GPL), no ropes, no crowds, nothing except a sense of respect stopping me from touching it.
Within 10 minutes of arriving I saw a 1905 Darraq. A car that's 110 years old, but nevertheless packs 200bhp and I saw it charge into the first right-hand corner and powerslide through, with driver, passenger and car all seeming to lean into the turn as it drifted through the apex. Unbelievable!
Another thing that was amazing was hearing the 2013 F1 cars - last of the naturally aspirated screamers - howl up the first straight and then hit the brakes for Molecombe. They were going down three or four gears, and each downshift rent the air with a tangible blam and howl... you don't *feel* the cars like this even if you actually attend a Grand Prix.

The first Japanese car to win an F1 race, the 1965 Honda RA272 with transversely mounted 48-valve V12 revving to 14,000 rpm. With 230hp from 1500cc, it would often be first into the first corner, regardless of where it lined up on the grid :-)
