If we're going to make a new thread, might as well make it WORTH IT!!

Ah, another fad....like most fads, will probably be popular for a month, get SO saturated with mentions, funny gags, grand champions who do crazy things with them, then be resigned to the dustbin of history for 30 years when they'll go for $1,000 on ebay (or whatever equivalent we have by then)

Anyway, I did buy one and decided I'd like to have one with fan blades so when you spin it, it actually cools you down...one that has animation so when you spin it, it looks like there's motion (been done), and one where you can put a string on it to spin it faster (been done as well).

So while we're in the last few days of this fad, let's celebrate it........I guess....

Speaking of, I saw a slap bracelet for sale in a store the other day. They can't be making a comeback.

I like reflective slap bracelets. Quick for commuting and easy to store.

And dorky, that's why it's good that they're easy to store.

My kids are right in the middle of fidget spinner mania. For a while apparently they were only available by mail order from China. Now I see 'em for sale in grocery stores, gas stations, and everywhere else, constantly.

They remind me of Rubik's Cubes, from a sudden fad standpoint, except they require less brain power to operate.

some of the designs people have made are really cool looking (and dangerous looking as well)

My kids got them. Played with them for a few hours. Will probably end up in the bottom of a bin, or lost.

And lets call them what they are. They are just toys. They don't help people concentrate or whatever they claim to.

There are at least 3 people I work with who have them. 2 are my age(33) and the other is 21 or 22. group composition is one hipster, one follow the crowder and one guy whose kids like them so he got himself one too.

The spinners, I agree. The fidget cubes however, I believe may have some benefit. There's a co-worker of mine, tier 3 technical agent who is ALWAYS fidgeting with whatever he can get his hands on. The first fidget cube kickstarter or whatever, some other employees chipped in and bought him one, that way he isn't messing with stuff at their desk every time he's asked to help out.

I've seen studies where people who can't think of the answer to a problem, can do better when they are playing with lego or something.
