I was really hoping that living that lifestyle would make him immortal and an example for the rest of us

Sad. I may have to glue a few pages together in his honor.

(well, something pre-2015

Meanwhile, stocks in Viagra have plummeted.

Apparently that's the stiffest anyone has found him in bed for years.

He was a womanizer and a garbage human. No real loss.

I have mixed feelings about him.

I wonder how much of his awful womanising antics are real, as compared to played up to the max for shows like Girls Next Door.

He doesn't seem to have been at all mentally well adjusted. Buuuut when you read a lot of accolades for him from people who actually knew / met him off camera, seem to be following a general tone of "he wasn't anything like I expected, and was a good man and a good friend", then you have to wonder just how real his persona was.

Not that I am saying I'm a fan, because in his own way, he seemed to be as off kilter as Michael Jackson. But I'm wondering just how bad some of the media coverage made him look.

He made it to 91, that in and of itself is a pretty amazing accomplishment.

I don't see Hef as being anywhere close to as whacked out as Jackson. Different league entirely.

I don't think they're exactly the same. But they do have common ground of being unable to form a conventional relationship - but to be clear, I'm not saying that the Hef endless parade of mindless 20 year old blondes is the *same* as whacko Jacko and the various children that he had to pay off over the years.

Like I said, garbage can of a human, not a quirky entertainment personality, a garbage can.

I hope a crowdfunding effort is established to rebury her remains in a family crypt or such.

Someday I need to circle back and find out how those photos were published considering they were clearly posed for. What was she thinking?

I heard it was mostly before she was famous and was desperate for money, got paid $50

If that's the case then it's not 'leaked', she made a choice and didn't like the consequences. (If true.)

It's deeper than that, but that portion of the excerpt above is a bit unfair to call it 'leaked.'

Wow, I guess he really loved her! Or just super intense obsession...
After going thru this many blondes..., he still can't get over her?
I guess men always want the thing that they can't have...

Anyway, if Hef were a garbage can, how would we describe that Vegas shooter? Landfill?

Sigh..., let's just hope Hef wasn't involved in the death of Marilyn.

Mike Douglas show. June 7, 1972.

Kukla, Fran and Ollie co-hosts today; guests are Playboy magazine publisher Hugh Hefner, singer Margaret Whiting, impressionist Frank Gorshin and radio show host Don McNeill.

I remember that show. It seemed very weird having children's entertainers Kukla, Fran and Ollie being laudatory towards Hugh Hefner.

Although https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kukla,_Fran_and_Ollie says the show ended in 1957 and was watched by more adults than children. But https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CBS_Children%27s_Film_Festival indicates the characters were revived in more brief segments (starting 1967), so that would have been their more recent familiarity, running with Kukla, Fran and Ollie until 1977.

Impressionist Frank Gorshin, indeed. Riddle me that.

It's a stretch.

I dunno. Clearly posed and got paid, but it may have been with the understanding that it wouldn't be published, or published in a something small that wouldn't end up nationwide/worldwide. Like, if my wife were to get photos like that with the understanding they'd only be given to me, and they got out, I'd still call it leaked.

Now, if she took the photos for the express purpose of being published in Playboy Magazine, then I'll agree she made a choice and didn't like the consequences. But just from what was mentioned above, I don't think it's actually possible to make that determination.
