Both Ferrari and Red Bull are a risk, that means team suck may finish on the podium this year

Here's a recap of how the numbers came about:

Started with 2017's results as a baseline, only three notable changes:
Red Bull is predicted to be just ahead of Ferrari so they cost roughly the same (RBR was grossly overpriced last year)
Renault is the mid-field favorite
Williams is a dog (was going to make Sirotkin only cost 1 but they still have the Mercedes engine and I don't want a bunch of Vettel + RBR teams separated by only Sauber or Sirotkin)

"Coming soon" with a week to go doesn't sound promising for 2018, though.

With how inactive some of our members are I don't think the auction idea would work if we waited until after winter testing.

As for bidding in auctions... as long as you set a deadline, whoever the highest bidder wins. Simple as that. As for the bid loser, he can either make another selection or just be assigned the next fastest the driver that his team can afford. Maybe we can try that next year. It does sound fun in theory, but I can imagine it causing a lot of headache for balki.

We're like the real FIA/F1; we have all these ideas but never agree upon them, let alone in time to do anything about it.

Whether we do anything else this year or next I'd like to still have at least one simple league where you pick once at the start and just follow for the season. Not just saying it from an administrative standpoint either; Dave ran the league for most of the first 10 years or so.

Which is why i chose Perez, FI have wisely spent their development resources in the last three years, making them a conservative bet in the midfield, and while i might be wrong about the prospect of the driver, Pérez hasn't massively underperformed relative to his teammate. His lows are higher than Esteban's.

I think whoever's got two drivers from the big three will win this year's compo.

Haas look solid I agree. It's just a question of development now.i fear much like Toro Rosso last season they'll be out developed and out spent as the season goes on. They may even scrape a podium if they can stay out of trouble. Worth remembering too, McLaren only got a double points score because Haas retired and Max messed up. Alonso would have been 9th or 10th without it.

I see that as just a typical racing incident. 5s penalty and 2 points on his license seems rather severe...

However, from Force India's perspective, losing that final championship point and Gasly also did cause damage on Perez's car, I'd certainly want to protest too...

But as a team owner myself and seeing my driver (Gasly) penalized and my team losing a position... Naw man! Fuck this shit!

Anyway, not sure what's happening to Grojean. Not sure if he can really recover like Max... kinda doubt he will out score Alonso if his current form continues.

I thought both Toros would be pretty even but clearly Hartley is either cheating on his wife or he eats his cereal without milk because fucking Karma.

I expect TR to be hit with reliability penalties in the second part of the season, so the Renaults I think will be a better value towards the end of the season, the McLarens too, they're a big team and once they'ver sorted out their shit they should be pretty stable.

It would be pretty fun, for the board's FF1 at least, if Bottas had an upswing in fortune and ate away some points off Hamilton. I think out of the 4 top drives, he was least picked by us.

In a nutshell, we all have the same budget and we each pick a unique combo of drivers..., of course each driver has different salary demands!

It used to be 1st come 1st serve when it comes to picking your drivers, but now we have a new handicap system preventing the top finishers from picking 1st. So you as a rookie can probably get to choose 1st.

Of course this is nowhere near real racing. I remember you used to be pretty fast driver online... so in this fantasy world, you’ll probably run near the bottom like Cuda! :p

Either way, just let the other person know their team is invalid and to make another selection (usually changing one of you 1 or 2 credit drivers is enough).

At the other board I do this at we each picked two unique rounds as tie breakers. If there is a tie at the end of the year those rounds count as 1.5x for each team for the purpose of determining a tie-break. If two teams choose to field identical drivers then they'll inevitably be tied at the end of the season and the multiplier rounds determine the final position.

It's clean, quick, easy, and fair. It was rejected by the GTXF league when I suggested it last year.
