I'm surprised there isn't a thread on this yet. Has anyone done any reading yet?

I saw Wickens will be driving for Herta in IMSA this year. And there will be two C8.Rs at Daytona, but not every race. That's all I got.

Myself and Cam are doing it in separate teams...

Oh you mean real life?

Sorry.

Glad Wickens is not in a BMW. Would be annoyed to have another race lost the way Zanardi's publicity stunt killed the BMW at Daytona in 2019.

US Broadcast schedule, eastern:

Saturday
1:30-2:30pm NBC
2:30-4:00pm Peacock
4:00-7:00pm USA Network
7:00-10:00pm Peacock
10:00-3:00am USA Network

Sunday
3:00-6:00am Peacock
6:00-12:00pm USA Network
12:00-2:00pm NBC

Peacock doesn't have a DVR function so I'll be skipping those segments. You can watch a 24-hour race in about three hours if you skip commercials, sponsor segments, interviews with c-suite executives, and race recaps.

Either they put it on an app with no ads and no switching channels, or I'm not watching other than the NBC parts.

Do you need trackpass or something? Or just Peacock?

Kchrpm

I think Track Pass no longer exists for this year, and I'm not sure how Peacock will work for this. I'm assuming it will just give me access to these channels at best, not a commercial-free feed.

"Peacock Premium Plus
Everything in Premium, without the ads*.

*Due to streaming rights, a small amount of programming will still contain ads (Peacock channels, events and a few shows and movies)."

That's the $9.99/month, $99.99/year level. I'm sure the "events" will include IMSA races, and a quick Google says that Peacock support agrees.

I would pay $10/mo for ad-free sportscar racing. But I suspect, as you alluded to, this isn't it. And it's still not DVR capable so it doesn't help me much anyway since I time shift most of the event.

My guess is that the entire coverage will be on Peacock, but the parts that are also broadcast will have ads. Not sure if the Peacock only bits will. Either way, I luckily have Peacock Plus, so I'll find out soon enough.

I think IMSA is live streamed for free via their website to the rest of the world, so maybe investigate if your VPN is able to sneak you on board.

Bummer Motortrend's streaming service doesn't carry IMSA, they do a good job with a lot of other series around the globe, including Le Mans.

I hope that Peacock will just carry the whole thing, it seems a little daft to force people onto TV coverage when Peacock could easily carry all of it in addition to the parts that get broadcast.

Yes, Peacock will simulcast the event flag to flag from 1:40pm Saturday to 1:40pm Sunday, according to IMSA.com. https://www.imsa.com/events/2022-rolex-24-at-daytona/

Without DVR I can't see how anyone would choose that as their primary option. Unless they really enjoy Rutledge Wood interviewing rednecks away from the track every two hours.

Any chance they'll offer it on-demand post-race?

When do the GT cars start lapping? All they have shown thus far are prototypes.

Watched the last few hours and it was quite good. I just wish for a little coverage of drivers not in top 2 battles. Last lap GTDP move was a little sketchy to be honest.

Wayne Taylor racing have announced they're running a gtd pro NSX in Sebring.

It looks gorgeous.

Nice, now I can root for them to lose in two classes.
