My second car! Well, almost. But I had those same aluminum wheels that I bought at a VW junkyard sort of on a whim while I was there looking for something useful. The centers were black 30+ years ago. I am still looking for the picture I know I still have of those.

Mine did not have a sunroof, pop-out rear windows, aftermarket chrome trim on the fenders, or those ugly bumper overriders. It also didn't cost anywhere near this asking price.

Driving at night with light, dry snow coming in is what going to church ought to be.

The German cars and the Saab have remote window roll down built into the keyfob. That's a feature I actually installed in one of my Intrepids when I lived at the beach.

Honda Ridgelines will open all the windows if you hold the unlock button on the fob. Elsewhere recently I read someone grumbling about his brand new one getting soaked in the rain because he accidentally did that, and his sunroof opened up too. I did it once to see if it works but I can't see an advantage to this "feature".

That Charger is interesting. As the folks (think about the Barret-Jackson people) start to pass on and leave their cars to disinterested kids, will the 1965-72 era of muscle car prices start to come down? It happened with Model T collectors and the '50s classic car collector markets. Now that people think collecting Starions is cool there is less money for these classics of my Dad's youth.

Exactly. Also (probably) leather seats that would put an expensive La-Z-Boy to shame.
IIRC, the list of options on those things was serious business. Moonroof the size of a bed, heads up display, towing package that would frighten most 1/4 pick ups, etc. They were built/specced for a lot of highway miles in comfort.

I gotta say I am really pissed off about how smart-phones and dashboard screens have changed how people drive. I think drivers these days get close to someone else, match their speed, keep them in their peripheral vision, and then consider that a license to start browsing the internet or texting or whatever else they do on their smart-phones. I am so tired of remoras (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remora) who cruise along with me inches away from my rear bumper, yet in another lane, whenever I turn my head and torso to see who's behind me before I change lanes. And they'll sit there until I hit the Wyoming state line if I don't change my speed and/or lane.

Every day, I look around and check my mirrors at red lights and all I ever see are people's eyelids. They're all looking down at their smart-phones! Nobody is waiting for the light to turn green so we can all get out of this Big Brotheresque hell in which they keep installing more and more red lights at intersections that never had them and still don't need them.

And, the powers that be keep replacing regular green lights at left turns with green arrows for protected turns, so that we can then sit there for fucking ever with nobody coming the other way until we can finally turn ten minutes later. The ignorant bastards who program the traffic lights around here are obviously dedicated to slowing down and stopping drivers at every opportunity, rather than letting them get where they're going.

I'll dig up some fun old cars on craigslist again soon to clear the air from this rant, but I just spent an hour commuting to my office in downtown Denver from the suburbs and am ready to plotz!

When I was in high school my best friend's dad had a '77 Grand Prix with T-Tops. No 403 but it did have a 301. When I'd sit behind the drive I had to be careful where I put my feet because the rot was that bad(the car, not my feet). After a time the rot got so bad friend's dad bought a '79 Delta 88 and put the 301 in it. After the Delta died he bought an Olds Custom Cruiser wagon that was originally a 350 diesel(but had been converted to gas). In the back of that car he delivered his second grandchild(and first grandson) in the fall of '92. Funny how memories come back.

This is so typical of a missing, expired, covered, or otherwise illegal Colorado license plate. I bet I see ten cars with plates like this every day. You can drive anything in Colorado with a license plate or not and no one seems to care. These same people drive in express lanes and toll roads that have license plate cameras. I assume they never get a bill in the mail and therefore don't pay tolls or taxes. They probably don't have insurance, either, since that isn't enforced either.

I hated going to the DMV back in North Carolina, but just be one day late in mailing your insurance premium check and you'd get a nasty-gram in the mail saying the state's hired goons were coming to your house to confiscate your license plate because your insurance had lapsed.

But here? No way, man. Do whatever the hell you want on the roads. The police seem to be on permanent vacation.

They can make good sleeper cars from what I've heard, probably partially because of that.

The SC300 came with the non-turbo 2JZ engine...not sure how easy it is to make it turbocharged (and I SHOULD know since it was the same engine in the GS300 I used to own), and of course the SC400 with the V8....probably heavy cars though

My father worked for a custom van conversion company in the 1970s, selling them to automobile dealers. I got to visit the shop many times as a kid and saw bearded hippies airbrushing murals and installing shag carpet and wood paneling to make "custom vans" out of new vans from Detroit. I have a box of slides that was his that has pictures of a few at least. I need to find one a shop that converts slides into digital photos. For all the old crap I still have, such as cassettes and a VCR, a slide projector is unfortunately not in my arsenal.

That van is straight out of the CHiPs TV show! The bad guys of the week usually came in pairs and often drove a van. There was always a cocky, confident one and then a more timid guy who was like, "Uh, I dunno Jim. We might get in trouble if we don't stop snatching purses at the beach on roller skates..."

And then Ponch and Jon would go undercover in the local roller derby league to try to find the bad guys. Cue the disco music! :lol:

Sure enough, the third "Ponch and Jon" video I found had a van with mag wheels, white-letter tires, and side pipes. :rawk:
