How do you block access to a youtube channel across a Google account?

We use my account for the appletv but I'm SICK of watching superhero videos (different channels, same thing: dudes and dudettes in lame ass Spiderman, Elsa and Joker costumes in no-dialogue shorts set to royalty-free tunes) and i want to block those from Junior's youtube regularly scheduled programming.

Talked to my sister for the first time in a couple weeks, she had her Shih-Tzu/Maltese mix (our little fluff Apollo is the same mix) named Stitch that she's had since she was a puppy put to sleep. Old girl was 13 years old and had a malignant tumor on her spleen.

Her 4 year old twins asked where Stitch was. She told them that she was sick and had to go somewhere where she'll get to play with doggies and kitties all day. She said they seemed good with that.

Thanks Bill, but it's not a matter of inappropriate content, just videos that are really fucking annoying.

Also, he mainly watches it on the TV that's connected to the apple device, so it's a limited enviroment, what I want to do is like with any other social network, tell youtube that i don't want to see previews/ads/videos from specific people, because quite frankly, I go stupidder every time I watch them

I dislike legislating/designing for the people that use something wrong :|

I would have NO problem if they just made it an option.

I can't believe that to be true though, just that more people complained about it than praised it, especially since it's been a staple in all browsers for so long. If 100 people find it annoying, maybe 50 complain, while 100 people like it, and no one says anything back to google. So now they'll see if more people complain about the change. I know it's minor, but it's not like it's some new feature that turned out to be a failure.

It's less about using it wrong and more because websites want you to type things in, but the fields aren't consistently handled (especially inside HTML5 and other complex pages). You're typing normally entering your info, then hit backspace and it takes you backwards and deletes all the information you've put in. That has happened more to me than I've actually used Backspace to go back. Doesn't help that my Chromebook doesn't have a Delete key, so I have to use Backspace to delete things and various online tools are not comfortable with that.

It was way too easy to hit backspace in the wrong place and end up going back a page. If I want to go back a page, I can always click the left arrow.

I agree. But the tech industry is increasingly going to "we know what's right for you" because of the Apple model and how much people love it. It's quite frustrating.

Speaking of choice, I had my new shoe choices down to three different Nikes. All three were in my shopping cart at some point last week, but I just couldn't pull the trigger.

First Choice: Nike Free Train Instinct - $130

http://4.kicksonfire.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Nike-Free-Trainer-Instinct-1.jpg

Second Choice: Nike Free Trainer 3.0 V4 - $80 (at the time, I just saw online for $70)

http://images.footlocker.com/pi/49361001/zoom/nike-free-trainer-3.0-v4-mens

Third Choice: Nike Lunar Caldra - $85 (I think they might have been part of a 20% off clearance thing, too)

http://images.nike.com/is/image/DotCom/PDP_HERO_M/NIKE-LUNAR-TR1-V3-803879_015_A_PREM.jpg

I went out to the Nike Factory Store in the area that I hadn't tried before, and was told that only Dick's Sporting Goods *might* have First Choice, but that they could order it online. I don't like ordering shoes online, because it's too easy for them to not fit or be uncomfortable and then I have to deal with returns and trying another size and on and on. They had Second Choice in stock in my size, 12, so I tried it on. Too small! THIS IS WHY I TRY THEM ON!

So Second Choice it was. They were actually cheaper than First Choice anyway, by about $50, so I was OK with the trade off. After lunch, I decided to go to the mall and walk around to see how they felt and just see what caught my eye, if there was any reason to return the shoes before I got home.

The first store I go in to after starting back on my loop through one half of top floor was Champs Sports. In Champs, on the discount shelf with a tag showing a price $50 less than I had seen anywhere else online, was First Choice. Just like Second Choice, 13 was the right size, and I decided that, since I got a good deal and am replacing two pairs of shoes that have both worn out (sole on one, toe on the other), I'll just keep both. I'm wearing First Choice today to work, the flexible mid-height collar is a nice feeling so far, but makes them difficult to put on.

Good point. And Google is doing it quite a bit lately, despite their original stance of being the opposite of Apple in that way.

As for backspace, I didn't realize it was that big an issue. I almost never have the problem, especially since chrome always asks me if I'm sure when I try to navigate away from anything that has an input box that I've started typing into. (I just clicked out of this box and pressed Alt+left arrow to check, and yeah, it asked if I was sure. Said no and added this :) )

Apple's cult of personality is how you appeal to the common man. They didn't originate it, but they have done a great job of introducing the normal consumer mindset to a tech industry full of people focused on functionality over form and simplicity.

Random (not :random:) question of the moment:

Is it better to have an okay beard - not bad, and far too grey, lately, like an old dog - and moustache, or is it better to have an absolutely stellar moustache only. I'm talkin' a Tom Selleck or Sam Elliott quality 'stache, here, people, with plenty to grow out on the ends for a slight handlebar twirl - but without the wax, of course.

This is my problem. My sideburns are weak and one side of my beard is a little fuller than the other (but do people really see that, or is that just mirror-staring vanity?) but my moustache could make me millions, if they still hired actors on that quality alone.

Yet it still seems modern American society has deemed that moustaches = well, let's just say "deviants", without going into detail. They're a negative, right?

Too bad. :smh:

I've never tried the soul patch. Hmm.

And I wasn't even setting out to grow another beard, but as some of you may have read in the cycling thread, I landed on my face last Sunday and scraped up my chin, so the obvious solution was not to shave for a while. Now I'm a week into it and the idea of shaving is sort of like selling stock too soon.

Speaking of Chrome, and maybe this is a YouTube thing, but does anyone know why sometimes when you go fullscreen on a video, it just does it within the browser window, sometimes it does real fullscreen?

Kchrpm
August 16th, 2016, 11:43 AM
Is that for on YouTube itself, or on embedded YouTube videos? My only guess is that it's filling the frame that the video was embedded in.

It also does that if you're streaming the tab (vs the video itself) to a Chromecast and go fullscreen, no idea if that's related.

Drachen596
August 16th, 2016, 12:09 PM
Had that happen before. Though once it does it keeps doing it.

Always assumed it was a chrome issue as closing and reopening chrome entirely fixed it.

Freude am Fahren
August 16th, 2016, 01:08 PM
It's on YouTube itself. I've found no common link between which ones do and don't. The same video might at one time and not others. Multiple computers (home and work).

As for embedded, I notice a lot force me to go to YouTube if I want to go fullscreen, but I assume that is some kind of rights thing on purpose.

(example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgMTyRpiu_Q I watched that earlier here at work, and it stayed in the window full screened, but I just loaded it now at work, and it went fullscreen)

I assume it's just a glitch.

https://www.engadget.com/2016/08/17/chrome-go-back-with-backspace/

Google released a Chrome extension called Go Back With Backspace that does exactly what its name implies.
--------------------
Arguably the more elegant solution here would have just been to include a toggle in Chrome's Settings page to enable or disable the behavior, but Googlers apparently weren't fond of that possibility from the beginning.

"There will not be a flag for this," said Peter Kastings, a senior software engineer on the Chrome UI team in late April. "We prefer that extensions, rather than options, be used to add non-default behavior in most cases." Bummer.

In other news, work sucks. They have me training the new hire. This though isn't the issue, what is actually the problem is the huge lack of support and additional staffing. I'm unable to concentrate solely on training the new hire because I'm constantly having to do at least 2 other things. Also not helping is we have literally started our busy season in the last two days. 102 inbound loads were scheduled for Wednesday, that means double file back through our gate and well onto the access road to the property. This isn't counting the drivers bringing empty trailers in to pick up an outbound load of which there were about 90 scheduled for the same day.

Oh.. and Wednesday was the night that scheduling failed to the extreme. Only myself and the new hire were scheduled. I was literally doing 4 jobs at once.

In stupid news, due to security concerns the airshow taking place here on Sept 10 and 11th is making EVERYONE wishing to attend go through a security screening at a downtown park and then take a bus to the airport. There is no other option if you wish to attend.

They are doing this instead of doing what they did in 2012 which was multiple lots at various nearby high schools being used to park at, get screened and take a bus. Or you could even just walk into the airport if you lived close enough.

Maybe its just me but they've actually made security worse with the plan they're using. 82000 people attended in 2012. That means 40000 a day would need to be screened and bused from this one location. 40000 people standing around sounds like a hugely inviting target if thats what someone wants. Oh there are already events going on downtown that weekend as well meaning its going to be far more than that downtown and nearly no parking.

Yep, it was good - really good, and what made it even more fun was that I seemed to be the only white guy in the place. To me, that's success - finding where the "locals" eat, if you know what I mean, and being there on a business trip without my family or even my co-workers at the time, so I was sort of a free-roaming person wandering around and going where I would, for a short time.

Things like that are especially enjoyable to us drones in Sector 7-G who seldom get a break from work or family.

Yeah, my wife had some trouble with that a few years ago - On vacation, hanging out in the hot tub with my sister and some cousins, drinking some wine, etc. She ended up having a little more to drink than she would on a normal saturday, but got completely wrecked that night and the next morning had the worst hangover she's ever had.

We (in Wellington, NZ) have just had the most remarkable explosion in food trucks / street food culture.

We have been blessed for *years* by intense coffee culture (you can go basically anywhere in the central business district and be within a stones throw of 12 great coffee shops). Then the flash brewery culture picked up.

Now there are food stalls and trucks gathering in large numbers several times a weekend, and you can get awesome food out of trendy (or untrendy) trucks for NZ$10 to NZ$15 :)

Only thing I can figure is they're due for a retuck so they might as well go for maximum comfort knowing they have to disrobe to do the retuck anyway.

For me at least, it depends on the engineering of both the pants and the underwear. Depending on the layout of the hatch (fly? - The port in the underwear you can pull your dick through) it can be more trouble to reach into your pants' fly, get into the underwear hatch, and pull your junk out. Especially if you dress to the left. Unfortunately, some underwear are very nice and have features (comfort, support, materials, etc.) that you like, but a hatch which is inconvenient - therefore, since the hatch is something that can be easily bypassed, it takes a back-seat to more immutable features.

It might also make a difference that I rarely wear belts, so it's a lot less trouble than if I did.

As a father I feel that I at least should be overjoyed etc. but it represents such a huge shake up of my routine, meaning a change from being by myself, staying until 2 or 3 AM, sometimes even later, not having to get up until 11am or even 12 to go to work and having evenings to myself to, well, none of those things. When I worked for RadioShack in 2005 my store manager was receiving palimony. I know because he told the story to everyone he ever met. I think he liked to tell it because he thought it made his ex-wife look like a real piece of shit or something. The judge let a man take care of children!

My water heater is dying a miserable death. Thermostat is failing and it can't be replaced. Guess I was lucky to get twelve years out of it. So tomorrow a new one is being installed and plumbing is being brought "up to code".

Friday night my dad called me. He rarely calls out of the blue unless he needs something or has bad news. He called to tell me that the father of my niece's two oldest kids had died. He was 48. The kids are nine and eight. The eight year old had her birthday on Weds, his body was found Thurs, so he may have died on her birthday. His mother passed away six months ago and the little girl had a rough time with that one. Can't imagine what is going through her or her brother's minds. This year can really fuck off with its death type shit.

My step father died on Saturday. :( He's been battling cancer for over a year. We went to visit over Xmas break because his health had been deteriorating. So, we knew it was coming. I was never really that close with him. But, both of my kids consider him their grandpa, because my dad has never been in their lives. (I haven't seen my father since my son was born, 7 years ago.) My mom married him when I was 13, and they moved 45 minutes away when I was 15, then had my sister when I was 16. So, I resented him for a long time, because he took my mom away. I was never really close with my dad. I chose to live with him when they moved away, because I didn't want to live on a farm at 15 and start junior year in high school somewhere new. Then for years, they would come to any family gathering as a family, and I'd show up by myself, so I felt like an outsider to all family events for a long time. But eventually that feeling waned and my kids grew up knowing him as grandpa boomie. He bought 100s of dollars worth of fireworks each summer, maybe more... what else is there to do out in the country. He always liked to joke, some of them were pretty bad, but he liked making people laugh and was always willing to help.

I need to stop so I don't start crying at work. But, if felt good to get it off my chest. With Shannon away, I'm not sure if she is going to be able to make it to the funeral. I've been depressed the last few days. Even though we knew it was coming, it hit me harder than I thought it would. No matter how much you prepare for it, you aren't ready.

I just started rambling. I'm sure this doesn't make much sense. sorry.

Our shipment of elephant bones arrived at work! Thanks, Poachers!*
Now all I need to do is find some time to break them.

*Fresh elephant bones for academic use are completely legally acquired from governments/gov't agencies like game parks in Africa. Speculation around the dept is that these elephants were killed by poachers for their tusks (which would be very useful for our work) and left to rot. I have no idea where you'd get the skeleton of a healthy adult elephant otherwise.

There's a new guy where I work, he's a bit strange. Of our parking lot of around 300 cars, he is the only one who meticulously puts his under a car cover every day. His car? A Pontiac Aztek. I am really fighting the urge to ask him whether he puts the car cover on so he can keep it new and fresh looking or if he's just too embarrassed to own it.

I like it--it makes me smile when a guy (or gal!) putters past me in their pristine, shiny, 1985 Camry. :)

It's fair enough. People would probably think I'm crazy to spend 10-15% of the Legacy's value on paint protection/washing services every year, and insane for having spent 15-20% of its value on a brand-new dashboard to replace the old one (which had cracks in it due to age and the original manufacturing).

Cracks? How old is your Legacy? I didn't think that happened to modern dashes.

Seriously, I don't think I've seen that in anything past the 1990s, and that's in spite of me having driven some really shitty cars for work and the extreme hot and cold weather Chicago gets on an annual basis.

In 2050, pristine Azteks will probably go for 6-7 figures in today's money. Especially if they can keep all the plastic from fading.

So there's a 'girl' at work. Now I can usually see the beauty in most women but this one, she's not only an ugly person, she's certainly not a pretty lady either. Early 20's I'd guess. Overheard a conversation and she said 'my kids'. And I was kind of shocked, then dismayed and disappointed that someone did the deed.

You joke but I would sell it right now for what I owe with no questions asked. It's 'listed' about $10k above that but I'd throw the keys at a buyer that offered my balance.

Yeah, this.

The cracks were bigger and also in places (and spreading) other than near where I'd hit the dashboard.

This gen of Legacy has very nice soft touch plastic which feels good but was initially probably less durable than the typical Sube plastic (of which I have experience from the Forester, and which I strangely dreamt about last night).

yeah.. and i'm kind of pissed at them for their decision.
I know quite a few people who have had cancer and omg chemo and radiation therapy has cured them. one of them recently had a baby too.

but they think that chemo is bad for you just makes you sicker and lots of excuses i typically hear from the Anti-vax crowd. 'there are other safer ways that work better and are natural' really? cause if the insurance companies that hate paying for shit found that out they'd be demanding its use over the chemo therapies.

dodint

Well, chemo does make you sicker. It taps your strength, drains your soul, and makes you question if you'll ever be whole again.

It also CURES FUCKING CANCER.
