Who's to blame for Trump's rise to fame? Obama of course. (http://theweek.com/articles/593880/republicans-are-now-blaming-barack-obama-donald-trump-seriously) BRILLIANT!
If Trump gets the nomination, Fox News star Bill O'Reilly tells his viewers, "he should send Barack Obama a very nice gift for making that possible." You see, Obama's unwillingness to keep Americans safe from terrorism and the fact that "he continues to allow people to illegally enter America with impunity" has filled Americans with so much rage that they have turned to the candidate most willing to share it. The brain trust on Fox & Friends agreed that it's only because Obama so obviously doesn't care about America that "when Donald Trump comes out with something that seems extreme, then people say, 'Okay, at least I can say he's looking out for you.'" :twitch:

Fossil fuel company propaganda has made it political. However, modern manufacturing methods have brought down the price that anyone who's doing the numbers is finding that they make a lot of economic sense for a lot of people and even businesses now. You can only be so right wing until it starts costing you money that you can actually see.

How do solar panels work, just light into electrical current? No chemical reactions? Are they thermally efficient?
I mean, it would be understandable if people touched the panels and they stayed irradiating heat after ambient temperatures had dropped.
That would have some empirical validity, but stuff talking heads have feed them with? Jeesus!

December 14th, 2015, 08:20 PM
Light to electrical current:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photovoltaics
They can get rather warm and they lose efficiency if they get too hot. They're not throwing off enough heat to effect nearby plants though. There are some systems that use liquid to cool the the back of the panels and transfer/store that heat for use in water or home heating. Such systems are not typically used in solar farms though. They tend to mount the panels on frames over clear ground and allow plenty of air to make contact with the back of the panels which limits heat build up. Modern panels are also thinner than older ones which again limits heat build up.

This is way past funny old Trump... things are getting scary.
Multiple protesters affiliated with a local group that supports the #BlackLivesMatter movement were forcibly removed from Donald Trump’s presidential campaign rally at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino on Monday evening.
The commotion began shortly after Trump, who is currently a frontrunner in the GOP primary, took the stage. Trump invited a supporter named Jamiel Shaw to join him. Shaw’s son was shot and killed by an undocumented immigrant gang member in 2008.
“I always ask people, what would you do? What would you do if an illegal alien in an 18th Street gang was released from the county jail you know and into our neighborhoods?” Shaw asked the crowd. “We don’t know what’s going on. That’s why we need Donald Trump.”
As Shaw spoke, Austin began shouting. “That’s why we need gun control!” Austin yelled. “If there were no guns he wouldn’t have got killed.”
Austin said he had planned on staying at the rally, but felt he needed to interject when he did because he believed Trump was unfairly using the death of Shaw’s son to justify anti-immigrant policies. “The majority of issues with gun violence are not with undocumented persons,” Austin said. “And to parade that as though this is the reason why we should deport millions of people and destroy millions of lives was disturbing to me.”
Austin added that his “heart is with” Shaw’s family for the “loss that they’ve endured.”
Afterward, protesters told Yahoo News they are also planning more demonstrations for the Republican debate that will be held at the Venetian casino on Tuesday. One protester ejected from the rally, Ender Austin III, said Trump supporters shouted “Hail Trump!” as he was carried out. In video of the incident, a man can be heard yelling for Austin to be set “on fire.” :(

I spend time out in the field. A county of 30,000 with a semi-rural township of 9,500.
For all the goodwill, effort and money that goes into designing and operating these policies/programs, it's incredible how much damage one ill intended individual can do at the bottom of the pyramid. I guess that large, complex and disenfranchised societies are terribly difficult to govern.
I can see why people making a living in disinformation and astroturfing are successful. It doesn't take much to light a fire based on people's fears and insecurities. Multiply that with the help of the intelligence-denouncing media and you have Trump, Putin, Ana Botella, et al.

"I will not have my children sit under a woman who indoctrinates them with the Islam religion when I am a Christian,"
"This is so WRONG! There is only ONE GOD and HIS NAME is JESUS!" :| So, they shut down school because of a geography lesson, trying to show how difficult calligraphy is. Obviously the quality of that image makes them all near impossible to read actual numbers, but from the ones that are somewhat clear, you can see even the lightest colors (pregnancy, Diabetes) aren't "none." They are the lowest percentage, or amount, a range that starts at 0. Or sometimes simply a lack of data.
As to education, any large metropolitan area (SoCal, North East) will have education issues. It appears to be % of high school class graduating (I'm guessing how many start as freshman and finish vs. don't graduate). Lots of dropouts is large metro areas typically. The prevalence of large and prestigious universities in those areas is irrelevant.

This guy is just dismantling the state of Wisconsin. :smh:
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) quietly signed two pieces of legislation Wednesday that dramatically alter the election and campaign finance landscape in the state.
The first new law dismantles the nonpartisan Government Accountability Board -- an independent elections and ethics panel -- which has been held up as a national model because it's run by six former judges rather than partisan political appointees.
In its place will be two different commissions overseeing ethics and elections, ran mostly by partisan appointees put in place by the governor and legislative leaders.
The second law relaxes campaign finance rules, doubling the limit for individual contributions, eliminating the requirement that donors must identify their employer and allowing corporate donations to political parties and legislative campaign committees.
Walker held no public ceremony for these dramatic changes, signing the bills in a private event. The Associated Press noted that news of the signings came from a tweet from the author of the GAB legislation. Walker's office later put out statements confirming what he had done.

Fukushima radiation just off the North American coast is higher now than it has ever been, and government scientists and mainstream press are scrambling to cover-up and downplay the ever-increasing deadly threat that looms for millions of Americans.
Following the March 2011 meltdown at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, reactors have sprayed immeasurable amounts of radioactive material into the air, most of which settled into the Pacific Ocean. A study by the American Geophysical Union has found that radiation levels from Alaska to California have increased and continue to increase since they were last taken.

What a load of junk.
"everything will be fine in a few billion or so years", yet points out that the isotopes they are measuring have half lives of 2 and 34 years.
And radiation levels are up 50%, wow that's a big fat nothing. Yes there are background levels but they are generally so low that safe levels are hundreds to thousands times larger. You know otherwise swimming in the ocean would be a big risk of radiation damage rather than drowning.
Yes it's important to monitor levels, but it's hardly "world ending" if there is a 50% increase. Come back when it's 10* or more.

Care to show any evidence as to why Putin is the most corrupt man in the world? When you consider the level of campaign contributions and lobbying in the US, that picture is pretty ironic in fact. Most of the complaints about Putin seem to stem from billionaires whining about being jailed for not paying their taxes, because tax payment is mandatory for the rich in Russia, not optional, like it is in the US.

So if like to know why nobody is even asking where Hillary was for the almost 6 minute break as the debate continued? Why was she missing? What's up with that?my response: Going to the bathroom? Playing Angry Birds? Why does it matter?
Perplexed by this line of questioning, A quick search seems to point to this being an issue for Republicans at the moment. :erm:
Doing a little (very little) more searching points me to the answer.
Clinton apologized to a live television audience for returning late from the ladies’ room after the break.
The reason is one many women are familiar with: An unexpected line for the loo. While Clinton waited for the ladies’ room to clear out, time ticked down, and the debate organizers allowed the show to go on without her.... :| Is this really what they are worried about when there are so many serious issues a the moment?!?
Every time I am just baffled by the next level they take it to. I keep thinking it can't get any crazier than this. But, yet they prove me wrong every.single.time. :smh:
his response:
Ok. If it was a bathroom break I'd think that they would give her "first dibs" since she is the reason everybody is there! Also I've read a few things about her health not being the greatest, which nobody reports about.
Just want to know why the delay that nobody seems to be asking about. That's all.

In an interview with me on SiriusXM Progress, Davis said her father, who was shot in an attempted assassination by John Hinkley Jr. in 1981, would not be able to imagine today’s gun violence. Davis also noted that in stark contrast to current GOP presidential candidates and most Republican leaders, her mother, Nancy Reagan, was “very happy” about the Supreme Court’s historic decision on marriage equality.
Responding to a question about Sen. Ted Cruz often positively invoking her father’s name on the campaign trail and during debates, Davis said, “It may be this week he’s doing it more than the others. But they all kind of do it. But yet, they are so not like him. My father would be so appalled at what’s going on. He would be so appalled at these candidates. I don’t think he would be a Republican. And if another Ronald Reagan came along right now, I don’t think the Republican Party would accept him.”

There is no berniesanders.com, but a go.berniesanders.com.
When I type the address without go, my browers still redirects me to the proper site. Maybe the military base has outdated browsers. I find it hard to believe they would selectively choose to block certain candidates...
If this were true, more reason we should vote for Sanders. Hillary is just more of the same... just like I don't feel Obama was that much different than W when it comes to war on terror or financial reforms...

On Sunday, an 82-year-old woman called the police in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, because she heard her neighbor chanting “ISIS is good, ISIS is great” during sex. Authorities found no evidence that a terror plot was afoot, or even that the scary sex shouts happened at all, but nonetheless told the woman to call back if she heard anything else.
According to reports, the unnamed woman called 911 claiming that she heard her neighbor yelling frightening things, and told the officers who arrived on the scene that—I’m going to spell this out again in case you missed it in the first paragraph—she heard her neighbor chanting “ISIS is good, ISIS is great” during sex.

NCSA Mosaic might have issue with TLS 1.2 and SHA256, but TLS 1.2/SHA256 is a good thing. Looks like they're using a modern web server.
Maybe one of the offshoots that continued after the last NCSA release in 1997 could handle it but even SSL 3.0 is considered bad now.

IMHO the two things working against it are the 302 and the RapidSSL cert. Temporary redirects always raise eyebrows (I've experienced that with government entities being unable to reach pages) and RapidSSL certs are not recognized 100%. On the browser end they are typically not a problem, but if you have something inspecting traffic in the middle there is a reasonable chance the authority will not be recognized. I'm not saying it's NOT a conspiracy, but intentionally blocking one domain seems unlikely *and* there is enough going on here that I'd give the armed forces the benefit of the doubt. Bernie should not be doing a pointless 302 and should be using a guaranteed 100% recognized cert authority.

Apparently this is the issue:
The father and son already served jail time for this. A federal judge (not Oregon judge, keep in mind this was Oregon's land, not federal land that was burned) said the original prison sentence was too short after both had served their time and ordered them back to 4 year prison terms. The federal government doesn't have jurisdiction in this, and that's what they're so pissed off about. It's not federal land and didn't cross state lines.

“This idea that you can just violate the law with impunity is not something I support,” he added. “If we stop becoming a nation of laws — whether it’s on immigration or the use of lands — you begin to disintegrate as a republic and it undermines our whole system.”

It was federally owned land. The minimum sentence is 5 years for arson on Federal lands, so the mistake of the lower court was corrected.

Okay, from where I posted that response:
Although you're correct, I think you're missing the real issues. First being that a state level court agreed the punishment didn't fit the crime and reduced their sentences, which they served. I'm not a lawyer, but it's my understanding that you can't be retried (and by extension, re-sentenced) for a crime after already a verdict is reached. On top of that, from the reports I've read, it seems that the federal judge isn't requiring them to finish the remainder of a 5 year minimum, but actually requiring their time to start over.
I think if the lower court got it wrong and the federal courts didn't rectify it immediately and the guy has already served the time, then the feds should simply accept that a mistake was made, reprimand the lower court appropriately, but forget about the re-sentencing. It's not exactly fair to send someone back to jail for the same crime after they've been released. Seems unnecessarily cruel and unjustified.

They have been credited with time already served. Keep in mind, court proceedings and decisions take time, and it seems likely that was the case here. Note... the government appealed the case before their sentences were completed, it was successful, then an appeal by the Hammonds was filed in early 2014, that was rejected, finally sentencing in late 2014... and Plus these are hardly people who deserve any leniency, which is should seem obvious with the current actions.

Note... the government appealed the case before their sentences were completed, it was successful, then an appeal by the Hammonds was filed in early 2014, that was rejected, finally sentencing in late 2014... and Plus these are hardly people who deserve any leniency, which is should seem obvious with the current actions.
I don't know, if you've been to prison and are just starting to get back on your feet, being re-sentenced for the initial crime seems unfair. Sure, you could argue that state court fucked up, but that's not the fault of the accused.

It's called the legal system, where both the accused and accuser have the right of appeal. Part of the due process that is a critical part of most criminal systems. Proceedings were started before they were out of jail... that it was dragged out is partially due to appeals by the Hammonds themselves.
I don't disagree that it seems as though BLM are trying to drive people off the land, to create more preserve land... That isn't an excuse for illegal poaching, illegal arson, or illegal entry, and armed occupation of property that isn't theirs. There are legal means, and really it doesn't matter who you are, the law is the law....

I don't think the legal system should get 2 runs at passing a sentence in the case of a guilty verdict. Get it right first time or deal with your own incompetence quietly. If they wanted to appeal a 'not guilty' verdict that would be different. The response is to be expected when you send someone to prison twice for the same offence. At the moment it seems to just be a group of citizens occupying public property in protest. It's not like they're rioting, looting and smashing the place up.

You need to understand that Islam isn't just a religion, it's a political and legal structure that seeks dominance and control in any country it inhabits. If there was such a thing as a nice country with a 20% Muslim population my opinion might be different.
The Schengen border system in Europe is collapsing for the same reason. Sweden has imposed border checks on the Danish border (for the first time since the '50s) and Denmark has imposed checks on the German border. And these are not 'right wing' governments doing this.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35222015
It's an unfortunate position to have to take but it's very much based on reality rather than what they'd like to believe was true. ISIS threatened to start a civil war in Europe, and that's kind of what they do, so it's about time someone took that seriously. With everyone fleeing the Middle East, it makes zero sense to bring it over to you. It's much easier and kinder on the rights of your own citizens to keep a problem out rather than finding an emergency way to deal with it internally at a later date. Terrorists are a very small minority of Muslims, however those who sympathise with terrorists are a much much larger percentage. Those who wish to impose Sharia Law, even higher. They made their bed in the Middle East, lie in it. When they drag themselves out of the Middle Ages, then the matter can be reviewed.

Nope, my views are extremely well researched, I know because I had your views before I did the research. What you're doing is trying to apply a uniform ideology globally to groups that it just doesn't fit, simply because that ideology happens to be appropriate in your homeland.
Take a long hard look at Muslim countries in terms of:
a) Stability;
b) Governance;
c) Legal systems;
d) Human/Civil rights; and
e) Core values within their societies.
Then ask yourself who made them that way. Sometimes facts aren't politically correct.

Very nice, so you taken one Muslim who's grown up in the US, with a western education and values teaching and used them as a basis for judging every Muslim nation in the Middle East and their inhabitants. But heck, they did turn out okay with that grounding, meanwhile, other Muslims with the same start in life, went to join ISIS. Others also denounce Islamic terror, praise western values, have a good job, and are running a terror cell.
Meanwhile I use the values, laws and stability of Muslim countries (some with elected governments) to make a judgement, and you say I'm ignorant and narrow-minded.
Let's see:
1) Women stoned to death for adultery or just being raped and it takes a westerner to complain about it, but any slight on Islam and millions will flock to the streets in protest.
2) Homosexuals imprisoned or executed and it takes a westerner to complain about it, but any slight on Islam and millions will flock to the streets in protest.
3) Extra taxes on Christians and other religions but any slight on Islam and millions will flock to the streets in protest.
4) Ridicule Mohammed and they'll bomb public infrastructure but at the same time will happily burn a Christmas tree, Bible or American flag.
Yeah, I know what I'm talking about thanks. I don't want them for the same reason I don't want the KKK.

Actually I didn't research that at all and may well have got bad facts. However, facing someone with the prospect of starting a prison term twice and forcing them to start over afterwards twice seems cruel and unusual. And 5 years minimum also seems cruel and unusual for torching a field, when others get less for violent crimes against individuals, probably why the state court reduced the sentence. Just a few minutes earlier, elsewhere in the city, French President Francois Hollande had finished paying homage to police officers killed in the line of duty, including three shot to death in the attacks last January.

Lawmaker: Sex with lobbyists is a 'gift' (http://www.cnn.com/2016/01/07/politics/missouri-lobbyist-sex-gift-bill/index.html)
A Missouri lawmaker introduced a bill Wednesday that would require lobbyists to report "sexual relations" with state legislators as a "gift" in their disclosures to the state ethics commission.
"We've already got a lobbyist gift reporting requirement and so that's how I worked it in there, by treating it as a definition of gift," Rep. Bart Korman, a Republican from High Hill, told CNN on Thursday. "I hope it deters any of that activity, but that if activity does occur, it's at least transparent."
Crazed_Insanity

Not just for politicians, but for lobbyists too! :p
The last sentence you quoted..., I think the bill is meant to discourage sexual favors because now you legally need to declare it in public! However, if you're shameless enough, transparency is certainly nice. Just want to make sure that there are absolutely nothing going on 'under the table' between lobbyists and politicians.
Anyway, I think that change is an improvement..., but we really need a bill that prevents politicians from receiving gifts over certain dollar amount or whatever gift received, will go into the Federal/State treasury... basically have the IRS take all of their extra incomes away during the time they're in office. Once out of office, IRS should continue to share 50% of their income with speeches or books or whatever proceeds... since they didn't really got famous on their own. It's only fair for the government to take their fair share...
As for sexual favors, yes, continue to not only declare them, but also document and video tape them and upload to porn sites so that we all can enjoy since they're public figures! Again, IRS will take all of the profit while the dude is in office and 50% of the profit out of office! ;)
Hopefully this will help with budge deficits.

Police say the 30-year-old suspect in the shooting of a Philadelphia police officer told investigators that he opened fire in the name of Islam.
Police Commissioner Richard Ross says Edward Archer pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group. Ross says Archer also told investigators that he believed police defend laws that are contrary to Islam.

... :| I don't understand...
The leader of a group of armed protesters occupying the headquarters of a federal wildlife refuge in southeastern Oregon met briefly with a local sheriff on Thursday but rejected the lawman's offer of safe passage out of the state to end the standoff.
Ammon Bundy and other occupiers left the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in two vehicles and traveled to a neutral location along a remote Oregon roadside to meet for about five minutes with Harney County Sheriff David Ward. They just sat down for tea with them and let them go back to breaking the law? No arrests, nothing. They just... asked nicely if they would leave. :wtf:

Meaningless. Pitbulls are fantastic dogs that have a bad reputation because they are highly abused. Guess what happens? These statistics are only useful when you have information about the environments the dogs came from. I think you can apply that concept to a variety of "this group is violent" conversations.

A sheriff not arresting people where he may not have had legal authority to do so probably isn't the best example of that.

Police investigate 'hate-motivated' crime after Syrian refugees pepper-sprayed outside Vancouver Muslim centre
Canadian political leaders, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, are condemning the pepper-spraying of some Syrian refugees in Vancouver, an attack police are treating as a hate crime.
Police said the incident happened Friday night when more than a dozen people had gathered outside the Muslim Association of Canada Centre during a "welcome night" for newly arrived Syrian refugees. A man wearing a white hoodie apparently rode by on a bicycle and sprayed 15 to 30 people, police said.
"This isn't who we are — and doesn't reflect the warm welcome Canadians have offered," Trudeau posted on Twitter on Saturday.
Nawal Addo said she was standing outside with some refugees who were waiting for a bus when suddenly everyone began to cough and feel their eyes burning.
"We saw people coming out from the building and they were in worse condition than us," she said. "Their eyes were really puffed up. They weren't able to open their eyes."
She said it appeared the fumes had gotten inside the entrance, where it affected people more powerfully inside the enclosed space. Some were children, including a girl who was about two years old, Addo said.
About 20 to 30 people were affected, some were vomiting and a few had to be taken away by ambulance, including the toddler, she said.
