Five ways Donald Trump benefits from the globalization he says he hates (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/06/28/five-ways-donald-trump-benefits-from-the-globalization-he-says-he-hates/)
1. Trump's signature merchandise, "made in Bangladesh"
2. Making money off global companies that make money through outsourcing
3. Trump pours money into foreign soil
4. Benefiting from cheap immigrant labor
5. Profiting off global economic turmoil
Conflict of interest much? I don't see him supporting our citizens best interests, if he can make money off of trade deals or labor.
Trump's jubilation at the stumbling of one of America's most important foreign allies again highlighted the potential conflict between Trump the businessman and Trump the president.
“I think it’s a great thing that happened," Trump said shortly after his helicopter landed at the golf resort. “People are angry, all over the world. People, they’re angry.”:toolbox: That's a great thing to say during such a volatile time... :smh:

5,300 U.S. water systems are in violation of lead rules (http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/28/us/epa-lead-in-u-s-water-systems/index.html)
Gaming the system for years
A Virginia Tech researcher credited with exposing two of the nation's largest lead-in-water crises -- in Washington D.C. in the early 2000s, and in Flint last year -- said he noticed several years ago that the EPA was turning a blind eye to the "cheating" by local water utilities.
"Cheating became something you didn't even hide," researcher Marc Edwards told CNN.
Among the bad practices adopted by water utilities: selectively testing homes that are unlikely to have high levels of lead, asking residents to "pre-flush" their taps, and taking water samples "slowly," which reduces lead levels.
He wrote a paper on this in 2009. Then in 2011, Edwards said he overheard a local water official openly brag about cheating on the lead and copper rule.
"Right in front of EPA," Edwards said. "And I went back after that conference and I wrote EPA and I said, "How can you allow this to occur? I mean, what are you going to do about this?" He later shared that letter in congressional testimony. It concludes with a line saying the EPA, "does not care whether children are lead poisoned from public drinking water."
The EPA says it's working on strengthening the lead and copper rule, and "focusing on enhanced oversight of the states, including implementation of the existing rule."
But Alan Morrissey, former senior attorney in the EPA's office of water enforcement, told CNN that addressing the problem could create even more violations for the already-strapped EPA water department. Morrissey left the EPA in 2015, frustrated by a lack of emphasis on water.
"If you fix the problem of the game in the system, you now have hundreds -- and thousands perhaps -- of municipalities that have direct violation," he said. WTF?!? That's your Effing job!!! How is that even a comment that you would admit to!?!?!
Oh yeah!!! It's a real mess. But, if we tell people about it, they'll know how bad it really is, and showcase a lot of problems... that need to be fixed.
Way to protect us Environmental Protection Agency  No wonder people don't trust the government. :(

Donald Trump on Tuesday trashed U.S. trade policies that he said have encouraged globalization and wiped out American manufacturing jobs in a speech in which he promised to herald a U.S. economic resurgence.
Speaking before a colorful backdrop of crushed aluminum cans, Trump pitched himself at a factory in Rust Belt Pennsylvania as a change agent who would bring back manufacturing jobs and end the "rigged system," which he argued presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton represents.JFC!!! :smh:
We have to leave borders behind, and go for global unity
What has been made clear by current events and financial upheavals since 2008 is that the global economy has become truly that -- global. The near meltdown we experienced a few years ago made it clear that our economic health depended on dependence on each other to do the right thing.
We are now closer to having an economic community in the best sense of the term -- we work with each other for the benefit of all.

CNet is a reasonably reputable tech news site (certainly been around a hell of a long time), but don't do a lot of standard news.
But yeah, it's not going to result in anything as it stands. I mostly found it amusing since Trump keeps moaning about Clinton accepting foreign money for her foundation. In the meantime, all he has to do is say that some staffer bought a list of email addresses somewhere and didn't vet it.
It *could* get interesting if his campaign ends up accepting donations from foreign nationals on that list and gets caught later. Even if they give the donations back, you'd think that this would be enough notice that they'd be careful not to accept any donations, or to immediately give them back prior to getting busted. And, as we know with the "giving to charity" thing, Trump isn't great about doing things he says he'll do until someone points out loudly that he hasn't.
Crazed_Insanity
June 29th, 2016, 02:15 PM
Once again, I have to say, I don't really care anymore.
If politicians accept foreign money and keep that money off shore like in Swiss or Cayman Islands or Panama, how would anybody know unless somebody purposely leak that info?
Trump also has so many businesses and accountants that can probably launder his money to make things untraceable...
But anyway, anything Trump can do, I'm sure Hillary can do better. Surely her Wall Street friends can be even more creative with money. Just wish she had better IT people looking over her servers... ;)
We are on a sinking Titanic, and it's kinda sad to see the passenger on the left laughing at the passengers on the right for how stupid they are... and passengers on the right scolding the left side passengers for how evil they are... and we have Hillary and Trump on the life boats broadcasting on loud speakers trying to convince us that we should trust them as their new captain... and Bernie Sanders the old man also trying as hard as he can to take over command to fix the ship but nobody can hear him because we're so busy screaming and fighting each other...

I'd be more convinced if it was just that. It's the fact that the image was taken from a white nationalist messageboard, not a retweet, that they pretty quickly took it down and changed the shape, and at least David Duke is more than convinced that it was intentional. That, and it's not exactly an isolated incident, hell, Donald Trump has retweeted a guy with "WhiteGenocide" in his username twice now.
So yeah, if the average person tweeted this image I think I'd be far more willing to buy that it was unintentional. Not in this case though.

But anyway, do these neo-nazis really believe Americans will round up Jews and put them in camps again? They just haven't learned their lessons in Germany? Jesus.
Face it. Jews will control and influence world affairs whether you like it or not. Jesus the Jew was dead 2000 years ago and he's still calling the shots! Give it up Nazis!

My going theory is that Trump isn't anti-Semitic himself, but knows full well how quickly he can whip up the various nationalists. Even David Duke isn't upset that Trump took it down and reposted it without the star, he's still going on that it's good that Trump at least showed "the hidden hand" for a short while. Now he's got all the neo-Nazis on board by tweeting it in the first place, and they can all blame the evil media that forced him to change it rather than be upset with Trump for changing it.
It's my opinion that it's entirely calculated, and that he doesn't seem to have any problem emboldening some of the more hateful people in the country if it gets him ahead.

New group aims to make homosexuality a crime in Maine
http://wgme.com/news/local/new-group-aims-to-make-homosexuality-a-crime-in-maine
AUGUSTA (WGME) -- Mike Heath and other former heads of the Christian Civic League of Maine have formed a new group, "Equal Rights, not Special Rights."
They say they're tired of being forced to accept the homosexual lifestyle.
Paul Madore and this small group of people say they want to restore America to its former greatness by repealing same sex marriage laws and making homosexuality a crime.
"There is conduct that ought to be punished," Heath said. "And Christianity teaches, has always taught and still does teach, that sodomy is such a behavior."It's funny how when minorities ask for, demand or get equal rights, some people who want to deny rights to the minority always pretend that equal rights are actually special rights.

the law against it is still around thanks to the Liquor industry lobbyists who cry anytime someone suggest it be done away with. they claim they don't wanna be open on Sundays and it'd cost them money. No, it's actually a good idea. The footage is still available for prosecutions, but not for internet hysteria generation purposes.
And actually, it's not as clear cut as how you interpreted it.
House Bill 972 does make such video accessible to people who can be seen or heard in it, along with their personal representatives ― but they must file a request to obtain the footage. If the request is denied, the petitioners must go before the state’s superior court. Requests can be denied to protect a person’s safety or reputation, or if the recording is part of an active investigation.
Current state law establishes that dashcam footage is in the public record, and it doesn’t address body camera footage. But police departments usually consider body camera footage to be part of an officer’s personnel file and thus private. The new law will make body camera footage accessible under the same stringent new conditions that dashcam footage will be.

Turkish coup quashed, 194 reported killed in clashes
ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey's president declared he is in control of the country early Saturday as loyal military and police forces quashed a coup attempt during a night of explosions, air battles and gunfire that left dozens dead.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who flew home early Saturday, said coup supporters "will pay a heavy price for their treason to Turkey."
The chaos capped a period of political turmoil in Turkey which critics blamed on Erdogan's increasingly authoritarian rule, which has included a government shake-up, a crackdown on dissidents and opposition media and renewed conflict in the mainly Kurdish areas of the southeast.
Gen. Umit Dundar, the newly appointed acting chief of the general staff, said more than 190 people died in clashes: 41 police officers, two soldiers, 47 civilians and 104 people described as "coup plotters."
Dundar said officers from the Air Force, the military police and the armored units were mainly involved in the attempt.
More than 1,500 military personnel were arrested across the country, said a senior official who was not authorized to speak to the media. The state-run Anadolu news agency said more than 1,100 were wounded. Colonels and generals implicated in the rebellion were fired and loyal troops rescued the military chief who had been taken hostage at an air base on the outskirts of Ankara.

In the biography promoted by the campaign for Melania Trump, it states that she obtained a "degree in design and architecture at University in Slovenia." While that would be something to be proud of, it appears that it's not true. According to her biographers, Bojan Pozar and Igor Omerza, Mrs. Trump never graduated from college, instead dropping out after her freshman year.

Melania plagiarizing Michelle Obama:
http://www.snopes.com/2016/07/18/melania-trump-michelle-obama/
I don't know..., is she being paid a lot of money for her speech? Or must speeches be completely original? Like mr2 said, does she also need to compensate Rick Ashley for stealing his lyrics?
I personally thought its good that she wants to imitate Michele Obama, intentional or not.
Lying about her degree would be something way more serious though...

I'll take that as a compliment?
I just don't see it as a big deal. There are certainly bigger fish to fry in the Trump campaign than Mrs Trump imitating our current 1st lady's speech.
I don't think her speech will change my vote for Jill. I also doubt her copied speech will cause Trump supporters to switch... nor will her speech cause Trump haters to change their minds even if she truly genuinely didn't copy Michelle's speech.
Kchrpm
July 19th, 2016, 01:59 PM
The fact it won't change anyone's mind is kind of the point. How many potential first ladies/men were nearly completely hidden from the public during a campaign, and then when they were finally given a chance to speak were given ravenous applause for what was essentially a copy of what was said by their most hated opponent?
Republicans were shaming Michelle Obama for wearing clothes that revealed her arms, while Melania is a nearly perfect example of what they say they think is wrong with America: an immigrant third-wife (aka interloper in a broken family) whose job was merely flaunting her body as a model. They completely ignore all those things, and give her a standing ovation when she simply repeats the words of someone they have nearly uniformly condemned.
Is it going to change anything? No, of course not. It's just more proof how ridiculous this whole thing.
Crazed_Insanity
July 19th, 2016, 02:34 PM
Of all the ridiculous things you can find with the republicans or Trump, how high would you rate that copied speech? From 1-10, 10 for the most ridiculous.
I'd rate it a 1 compared to other ridiculous things.
It's also far better to imitate Michelle than to imitate somebody else more repulsive.
I don't know... Just look at the clip posted by OP..., maybe Trump found a way to unite America.... Just pretend to be a Republican! Die hard liberals should rejoice that Trumps secret admirers are the Obamas and Clinton's! ;)

The fact that nearly half the country will unite to vote for this fraud of a presidential candidate says something. Screams something!

You guys are really looking way too much into this stolen speech incident. It's probably just a careless accident rather than intentionally stealing directly from Michelle's speech. Either way, liberals should be flattered that Mrs Trump, or the Trump camp, actually looks up to Michelle and is following her examples... rather than Mitt Romney's wife's or Laura Bush's speeches...
Anyway, I just find it funny that Americans now enjoy amplifying the mistakes of the 'other side' while completely ignoring that the person they're supporting on their own side also has serious faults.
Repulicans don't really know nor do they want to know who they're really supporting because they're just focusing on how much they hate Hillary.
Likewise, you guys know Hillary is not really that good for this country, but just having fun ripping Trump in pieces in order to numb the pain of voting someone you don't really love either.
Sad state of affairs really.
Honesty, I doubt neither Hillary nor Trump will be able to make American great again. On the other hand, neither probably will really have the capacity to destroy America. I'm ok with either one becoming president, but I'd like to take my chances with a 3rd party candidate.

We could be witnessing the utter destruction of both parties and massive overhaul of the U.S. political system....there's only so long you can keep these things silent.

As a foreigner, my initial reaction to Hillary's VP was 'who?'
He's pro-Wall St. and pro-TPP. As if Trump needed any more help to suppress the vote. :smh:

Read a few commentaries, including one by dilbert cartoonist, that trump will win by a landslide!
Trump is just very good at manipulating emotions... And when emotions run high, facts don't matter. He also has a lot of grassroot support... Bringing out bunch of 1st time voters, much like Obama did in 2008.
As with Hillary, nobody really love her, rational mind will tell people to pick Hillary, the more qualified candidate, but she failed to win even young women votes! They all went to sanders!
Anyway, humanity may like to think they are rational, but we always behave emotionally....
Hillary's already uninspiring, her pick also failed to inspire any further...
Looks like this one is trumps to lose...
I'm still voting for Jill.

Corbyn for Leader t-shirts ‘made by poverty-stricken workers earning just 30p an hour’
The t-shirts, bearing the leader’s name, were ordered by Corbyn’s campaign group Momentum and were sold at £10 each to make money for the leadership battle.
But the garments were revealed to have been made by machinists who work for up to ten hours a day on just 30p an hour, the Mail on Sunday reported.
One Bangladeshi factory worker Abdul, 35, told the paper: ‘I feel angry that a politician is using T-shirts created with our back-breaking work to make a statement about workers’ rights when he clearly doesn’t care about our rights at all.’

Wasserman Schultz resigning as party leader (http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/22/politics/dnc-wikileaks-emails/)
The Florida congresswoman's resignation -- under heavy pressure from top Democrats -- comes amid the release of thousand of leaked emails showing DNC staffers favoring Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders in the party's 2016 primary contest.
I want to thank my longtime friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her leadership of the Democratic National Committee over the past five years.... There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie–which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program... :twitch:
