There is a good point in the replies that the Scott Castenada account could be fake, since it goes from pro-ACA in 2015 to pro-Trump in July 2019. But who knows. And in the meantime, Tom's been roasting other morons anyway.
I kinda thought that might be the case, but it was also funny and believable enough that I enjoyed posting it anyway.

Yeah regarding Georgia, at least we're seeing these issues now before November and honestly, I'm just going to call GA for Trump and stop worrying about whatever happens in that state.
I have to disagree. Back in 2016, trump got only 50% but Hillary got 45% of the popular votes! It was a narrow win.
Considering more supporters are likely to be leaving trump and with more energized black voters, it’s quite conceivable Georgia could go for Biden!

Klepper is so damned good at interviews, hope he comes back when rallies start up again. Though with COVID-19 around, I'm not sure people are in a rush to go do interviews of idiots who are risking their lives for a political candidate.

I watched some of that but couldn't stomach more than about two minutes of seeing uneducated rednecks embarrassing themselves. I clicked around a little after the first two minutes and it's all disgusting. Is this really what we've become?
And how can a guy old enough to have wrinkles on his face not remember who was president on September 11, 2001 and when Barack Obama was elected? Are some people "history-blind" like others are color-blind? These events happened just nineteen and twelve years ago - it's not like I'm criticizing him for not knowing who begat whom in the Old Testament.
I'd like to think this was like those "man on the street" interviews some late-night comedy TV hosts used to do. I always thought they must have stood there for hours in NYC or LA to get enough footage of clueless people, since the majority would know answers to the easy questions being asked. Or, another example is those Saturday morning fishing shows where a guy like Bill Dance would seemingly pull fish after fish after fish out of the water, but closer inspection revealed the sun moved all around the sky during a 30-minute TV show, indicating it took all day to catch that many fish.
I'm not so sure that's what happened in this video.

Don’t be so biased George, redneck lives matter too! :p
Look, only about 30% of Americans completed college... and even with my college degree, I might not even be able to answer some of those questions by late night comedians under the pressures of camera...
Anyway, I think the moral of the story is probably that a democracy might not be able to survive if we continue to cut basic education funding and then price higher education out of reach of most Americans...
American voters can easily be meddled with, by Russians, by Chinese, by social media and by our very own politicians bought by the rich elite.
The main thing I found disgusting is the corruption that can be found within our institutions rather than these sheep...
If we could ask Genie to make trump and all of his supporters to magically disappear, trust me, our problems would still not go away. BLM movement, for example, will still continue. Brown lives all over the globe will also continued to be harassed by the US military as terrorists.
We need a way to figure out how we can check and balance the power some of our institutions have accumulated... and Uncorrupt them for the good of everyone.
George
June 10th, 2020, 01:39 PM
Hey, I'm not losing any sleep over this, believe me, but you don't have to have gone to college to know who was president in 2001. It's not about college. Education is a life-long process and a lot of it is passive, from just being alive and observing what's happening around you.
Granted, some are better in remembering when the Battle Of Hastings was than others. Some can do complex math problems quickly in their head. Others can draw what they see without every having taken an art class. Maybe the guy I singled out can look at the head of a bolt and immediately see it's a 9/16", where I have to try four different wrenches to find the one that fits.
I know everyone is different, but I assume that people who attend political rallies would be interested in politics and therefore know just a little about recent political history. Silly me.
This crowd seems like they just showed up because they were giving away free hotdogs or something.

True, education doesn't account for everything, but one thing higher education does is critical thinking skills... which might be helpful?
Also, there's a lot of emotions... or perhaps even genetic aspect of human make up that we just can't change about others. At least emotions we could allow people some time to cool down..., but certain genetic predispositions probably won't be easily changed.
Some people are just more conservative... some are just more liberal... we all want different things.
It's clear that those white folks are hungry for something. It's easy to just assume they're bunch of ignorant racists, but I guess it's also very easy for them to assume all black people are looters and thugs... all gays are just.... wrong...
We need to collect our emotions and use them to drive us to solve actual problems, not to direct our emotions to kick ass of people we disagree with. Hopefully George Floyd is the catalyst that'll help us actually solve some problems...
For it's probably better that we now have a reason to protest and to tear our institutions down... if the corruption were allowed to continued unchecked... someday, people might just be so fed up and start rioting for seemingly no good reasons at all.

Lastly, even if he simply wasn't aware of the offensive abbreviation, the tweet's content by itself is pretty offensive in a time like this. This back handed compliment to the law enforcement folks is like... bring it on protesters!

Forgetting about the S.S. for a minute, the rest of that tweet reminds me of this event in American and Washington, D.C. history:

President Herbert Hoover then ordered the U.S. Army to clear the marchers' campsite. Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur commanded a contingent of infantry and cavalry, supported by six tanks. The Bonus Army marchers with their wives and children were driven out, and their shelters and belongings burned.

I personally don’t think everyone should get to keep their constitutional rights. If you’ve demonstrated that you could make poor enough judgements to land yourself in jail, then maybe you shouldn’t vote, shouldn’t own guns... if you truly cherish your rights, then you have to demonstrate some sense of responsibility... by not committing crimes for example.
I’m willing to help ex-felons to get back on their feet, but I won’t be wasting my time helping them gaining their right to vote. There are other more important improvements we could be making 1st.
Anyway, this issue is one of the few I disagree with Bernie:

Sorry Billi, I'm actually actively annoyed at this. We often find that felons tend to fall along racial lines, potentially due to an unjust system. Also, they're all tax-payers as well, it's not like being an ex-felon exempts you from taxes.
What difference does it make? Well, for one, if it is an unjust system. Say a system that proportionately jailed more black men than any other based on a flawed war on drugs. If we make the felons of that system less able to vote, that perpetuates the same system that may have put them there in the first place. It's almost the textbook definition of systemic racism.
Also, I'm surprised that of all people that you basically don't seem to believe in redemption. The man who used to be about the System and who is now about Jesus doesn't believe that ex-felons can be just as good of people and just as worthy of listening to? If you made one mistake, even if it is something that you couldn't attribute to an unjust system, that you are forever flawed and lesser in the eyes of the republic?
MLK Jr. spent a fair bit of time behind bars. Admittedly, he was acquitted of the one felony charge, but he was convicted of numerous crimes and was jailed over 30 times. Should he have had his right to vote be a secondary thought to all the "regular" people?

If our justice system is That corrupt, you are putting in the effort to allow ex-felons to vote? Why?
Shouldn’t we spend the effort or fight the corrupt justice system 1st?
We have a justice system that jails MLKs unjustly in jail and you really think it’s super important that we ensure him voting rights after he got out? What the hell will such rights give them? Shouldn’t we be prioritizing fixing the justice system 1st?
This is as if fighting for African Americans to vote when slavery isn’t outlawed yet.
Consider how low voter turn out is in the US, do you really believe voting right is on top of ex-felon’s minds? This fight is basically all politicized BS. We have much worthwhile causes to fight for... such as our fucked up criminal justice system.
Lastly, regarding redemption, I’m not God, I can’t see people’s heart. If you are a convicted child molester, forgive me if I can’t trust you to babysit my kid. If you are a convicted drunk driver, forgive me if I won’t lend you my car.
Even if you were wrongly convicted.
How would I know for sure you’ve truly repented? How could I know for sure you were wrongly convicted? I’m willing to help you when you are in need, but excuse me if I have doubts about your judgment.
We can have reservations about judgments of average conservative voters, why can’t I have doubts about average ex-felon’s judgments?
I won’t fight for or against on this issue, I just thought it’s a stupid political fight.

Well, if our justice system is corrupt, why would you take away the power to change it from the victims of it? Our government is based on the idea that you can vote to change the system, if you take away that voice from a certain subset of people, what are they supposed to do? Who's going to fix a corrupt justice system if the people victimized by it don't have the same voice as those doing the victimizing?
I honestly don't know how to parse what you said about MLK. I think it's vitally important that he would have been assured voting rights. That's ideally how you change things in this country! How do you expect these things to change if the people it matters the most to don't get to have their say?
We, as a nation, jail a huge number of people per capita in for-profit prisons. The people who run the prisons not only get the right to vote, but have inordinate power to shape policy their way. The people they imprison should at least get the same right to vote.
I just...I don't know how you expect the justice system to be fixed if you also are putting the rights of those potentially victimized by it on the back-burner.

As far as I know, criminal justice system from police to judges to prisons are not voted in place.
Besides having a corrupt criminal justice system, we have a pretty corrupted voting system too. We can’t even vote the bought by the rich politicians out of office now!
Our voting power is basically illusory for all of us. We usually just end up with either a right or left establishment politician that won’t do jack to reform our system nor will they actually listen to will of the voters. Trump has been a rare exception, but he has proven to be the most evil of all evils... regardless of whether he’s the result of foreign meddling or dumb voters, we voters basically have much less control than the corporations.
Point is, I don’t believe fighting for ex-felons’ voting rights will change anything and I don’t think it deserves bandwidth that occupies our current news cycle.
Anyway, this is just my opinion. We don’t have to agree and I don’t even have to win.
I just...I don't know how you expect the justice system to be fixed if you also are putting the rights of those potentially victimized by it on the back-burner.
I don’t know, but I think people are pushing it hard now and we seem to have a shot at it at this moment.
If we can let all prisoners vote in prison, do you really believe that will have a better chance of us getting real reform?
Who can we vote for to get true reform? Biden? Pretty much the architect or our current criminal justice system?
I have little faith in my votes. Hopefully BLM movement can really stir up some genuine reform...

It sounds to me that Trump admitted to negligent manslaughter during his rally in Tulsa. Now, I would suspect that American law protects the president from criminal charges derived from his decisions in office.
But, could someone (or her family) seek civil restitution if she proved that she contracted covid as a direct result of Trump ordering "his people" to "slow down the testing"? Could a class action law suit be pinned to his statements in the Tulsa rally?

I'm still not entirely caught up with the news, but I would suspect that they are an attempt to keep the cops out in order to allow for continued public demonstrations.
As a greater and longer-term goal, they could be trying to establish a Catalunya revolucionària (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutionary_Catalonia)-style territory.
Alternatively, they could just be trying to promote the RPG Shadowrun, which was centered in Seattle and had a number of "autonomous zones."

You can't really be sure what the aim for a utopian project like CHAZ is, unless you're part of it; but they're mostly learning experiences in self-government. Social movements offer unique opportunities to experiment with human behavior, since there are really no experiments on human subjects that can accurately circumvent the artificialities placed by outside observers (not to mention the whole ethical aspect of testing people's responses to real-life situations).
So, in short, the people in CHAZ are trying to figure out ways to live outside the Modern World System. Some hope to use the lessons learned to design a reform plan that can be applied broadly and other are simply testing the system's boundaries.
Intelligence services usually let those utopias run their course because they are valuable means to test their analysis frameworks and they help them develop counter measures.

I guess it's better that people just isolate and hide in their bubbles and therefore end up ensuring their speech can be censored within their bubbles so people outside don't see or hear them.
Setting up these polarizing bubbles should be better than having a civil war I guess... people are free to not wear masks inside those bubbles and should they require hospital care, please go to hospitals and the morgues within those bubbles...

Something’s broken with the way our society makes sense of reality. You may have first noticed it if you were blindsided by the news about Brexit, or the election of Donald Trump. Or maybe it was the Jeffrey Epstein saga that’s triggered your alarm bells. You’re not alone. Increasingly, lots of people are starting to sense that our existing institutions may not be up to the task of uncovering the truth.
Why is our existing sense-making system starting to crack?
What might be able to replace it?
https://www.nickdewilde.com/the-blue-church-vs-the-red-religion-the-battle-for-how-we-make-sense/
Just recently learned about this concept of 'blue church and red religion'... I thought they are pretty interesting metaphors describing how each of the blue side and red side find their truth... the author explained what works and how they could go wrong...
To use my own metaphor..., I believe our world is so wrong today is because we're increasingly relying on just the "churches" or "religions", but have forgotten about the "Jesus".
Yes, the red religion crowd are dumbasses who'd refuse vaccines and masks...
But, the blue church side is kinda fucked up too. We had no idea what Jeff Epstein was up to and we couldn't even prosecute him properly... Isn't it also amazing that WHO and CDC couldn't figure out whether if we need masks or not early on during the pandemic?
Both sides need to fix themselves rather than just blaming the other side.

Maybe not the best example. Alexander Acosta is a Republican who was the US Attorney that approved a plea deal for Epstein back in 2007-2008. Point was that it is our ‘established institutions’ that allowed Epstein to not only go free for so long, but to also prevent further investigations after he was caught.
The pizzagate conspiracy was quite off, but they sure got the sex trafficking part correct.
Anyway, back to the mask debate. WHO and CDC certainly did not help the issue.
Our ‘established institutions’ are corrupted. We can continue to blame the other side, but that’s be like Trump blaming our own fuckedupness on China. We need to focus on fixing our problems 1st.
In today’s environment, I don’t think anyone really wants to fix their own problems.
One of the main reason why I’m not enthusiastic about Biden is that, although he’ll be gazillion times better than trump, he has been part of that established institution for so long... as one of the chief architect of our current day criminal justice system, will BLM really be resolved under his admin?
I hope so.

Do we absolutely have to pick a side? Can't we just work together to improve what wasn't working?
Likewise, is it really not possible for liberals and conservatives work together? Do we really need to look at our neighbors with politically opposing views as mortal enemies? We shouldn't be turning in one direction only. Forward is the way to go.

Because the particular brand of American Neoliberalism that shaped the Bush-Clinton era –which Trump's opposition to is probably his only clear ideological pillar– was an absolute nightmare to even the most sensible left-leaning electoral projects that rose up around the world in the last 35 years. In Latin America, Asia, Africa and former Soviet republics, at the slightest hint of a political victory for a coalition of anti-colonial, anti-imperialist, homegrown actors... boom! came the intervention: first softly by intellectual/foreign aid means, then mildly with economic measures and pressures and lastly with full violence.
The Neoliberal Democrats are no friends of us chocolate people. And Hillary was particularly adept at interfering in OPPs.

On this subject, Mario is correct.
I wish I was more read-up on it to authoritatively state why, but Hillary would’ve been bad foreign policy ju-ju for small countries in various hot spots.
For all his chest thumping, Trump hasn’t actually deployed an army anywhere, I don’t think. The last two Democrat presidents did, and it’s highly likely that Biden would too if he makes it in.

Jason, do you really believe America acts like captain America?
If our own police can brutalized dark skin Americans, why would our awesome military(pentagon/cia) have incentives to behave otherwise?
9/11 was a form of protest against Americans. It’s was NOT a very good way of protest just as looting the stores, but it’s not like the Arabs could peacefully protests the US.
The “establishment”, not the black establishment, has plenty of interests to protect around the world. The dark skinned little people usually will end up getting run over as result...
The establishment is bipartisan. That’s why from a foreigner’s perspective, Obama admin was really not that different from W Admin.
Supposedly Bernie was going to revolt against it, but sadly he failed. Trump was a faux antiestablishment candidate. He doesn’t care to serve the establishment, he wants to BE the ‘establishment’.
Point is we can’t afford to allow the elite to corrupt our institutions. Most of our politicians are mere puppets serving the establishment rather than serving the people.
This is why I’m not enthusiastic about Biden. However, for sure Trump is way more fucked up... so he has to go.

As it stands, he's pretty much only a major threat to those inside the US's borders - though I wouldn't be shocked if they tried to drum up a nice foreign war by october. Long-term Hillary would have been a much bigger issue for the global south.* The Trump admin is undoubtedly more evil than either clinton, but he's way more incompetent.

Another disadvantage Trump has...a much larger majority of people are voting to remove him from office than voting for Biden.
On the other hand, people who voted for Trump last time because they really hated Hillary don't have much in the way of scandals for Biden, despite Trump's failed attempts to pin things on him.

Personally I think it's good to know now many beds are available and based on that info to make the call whether to shutdown or not... however, actual patient would probably be more indicative of actual trend.
Anyway, basically this all comes down to how one dice and slice the data and how one interprets the data...

Orwell’s own name inspired an adjective, “Orwellian,” which is widely used in modern political rhetoric, albeit often inappropriately. It’s usually our enemies who are acting Orwellian, and it’s a testament to Orwell’s talents that everyone seems to think “1984” is about their political opponents.
The political left sees plenty of Orwellian tendencies in the White House and the criminal justice system. The political right bemoans “thought police” on college campuses and social media companies turning users into “unpersons.”

On the one hand, the bourgeois, and particularly the petty-bourgeois, ideologists, compelled under the weight of indisputable historical facts to admit that the state only exists where there are class antagonisms and a class struggle, “correct” Marx in such a way as to make it appear that the state is an organ for the reconciliation of classes. According to Marx, the state could neither have arisen nor maintained itself had it been possible to reconcile classes. From what the petty-bourgeois and philistine professors and publicists say, with quite frequent and benevolent references to Marx, it appears that the state does reconcile classes. According to Marx, the state is an organ of class rule, an organ for the oppression of one class by another; it is the creation of “order”, which legalizes and perpetuates this oppression by moderating the conflict between classes. In the opinion of the petty-bourgeois politicians, however, order means the reconciliation of classes, and not the oppression of one class by another; to alleviate the conflict means reconciling classes and not depriving the oppressed classes of definite means and methods of struggle to overthrow the oppressors.
Parties do not exist to fix problems for the greater whole of the country, they are there to simply ensure that the problems do not affect the ruling class, whether they are solved or suppressed doesn't matter as long as it doesn't effect capital.
As long as we think that the system that created the problem can fix it, the further we will be from fixing it.

She's half Thai... anyway, there seems to be a surge of impressive Thais... such as Senator Duck and Albon! :D
Anyway, I saw that clip from Tucker, I'm not a fan of Tucker at all, but I'm also not as offended as most of you guys.
I tend to think folks on both sides of the political spectrum are talking over each other..., each side believing the other side is evil and dumb and don't even want to listen to them... and whatever they say is offensive shit...
If this is our trajectory, I fear a civil war will be inevitable. Each side just don't get the other side and unwilling to work with the other side..., how else will it end?
Anyway, hopefully each side will learn to reflect more about their own problems. I'm surprised to find GOP ads against Trump now...
Yeah, I'm not enthusiastic about Biden, but Trump really needs to go. Hopefully the conservative voters will wise up. Biden also need to do more to capture those disgruntled republicans... hope this will work out

We did this thing where we don't listen to racists. Or consider their opinions valid. At all. Period. Nor those who excuse and enable them.
But keep "both sides- ing" everything. We see you.

I see you too. If things I say can be very offensive to you, naturally Tucker’s words gonna be unbearable.
Things do often have multiple sides. You need to try to see things from other angles too.
A lot of you are simply way too easily offended.
Conservatives have the same problems as well. Can easily be offended by the left...
It’s a sign of extremism! Each side is growing further apart. Just as the twin cities are drifting further apart... the United States will sooner or later become a divided states if the 2 sides don’t come together somehow...

Thats obviously not the angle tucker was talking about. If so, I agree, that kind of angle is offensive, but that’s not what he was talking about!
Just as Neanderthal often like to think that I said offensive shit, but he often twist the meaning of what I said in order to make it more offensive than it really is.
I do understand white nationalists hate me, but reality is that not all conservatives are white and nationalists. It’d be better to win some of them over rather than just lumping them all together. Is tucker and trump white supremacist? Not completely sure, at most they are orange supremacists.

I saw this earlier, saw the 7-2 split, and wondered who the dissenting two were. I suspected Alito and Thomas, but I couldn't put aside that is was Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, elevated by Trump himself, or some combination of any two of those 4.
Was not surprised to see it be Alito and Thomas.

Whenever protests turned violent, then the cause is BS! So some BLM protests that got out of control in the US, does that mean BLM is a BS cause?
I'm telling you, only extremists tend to be overly sensitive to 'angles' from opposing sides. The United States fared badly to a pandemic due to structural reasons, not because the gender of the national leader.
I think LBJ would have done a better job than either of the last three American presidents or any of the 4 heads of government Hillary mentioned. I would venture and say that most democratically elected leaders were fairly adept at setting up technical committees and oversight groups. The reason why Trump's admin failed is because he had eroded the primary fail-safes of the executive and thus the secondary levels of government were unable to function independently of the executive and respond to the changing conditions of a national emergency with technical sound actions, instead of ideological-driven ones.
If you want to lie to yourself by believing that Hillary lost to a Junior senator in 08 and then lost to a Reality TV host eight years later because she's a woman, be my guest.

Without solid evidences, I have no problems presuming her innocence. I also have no problems presuming trump to be innocent, but don’t expect me to love them! She could’ve pick a more progressive VP. That would’ve been enough. VP Warren could’ve easily consolidated the progressives with the democrats.
Her VP pick was really awesome in the eyes of progressive and conservative voters right?
I don’t know, at least to me, she clearly showed disdain not only at Deplorable trump supporters but she also didn’t think much of the Bernie supporters.
The bar really isn’t that high, she just didn’t bother with voters like me.
Voters like me are such small minority that which ever way we vote, probably won’t change the outcome, especially in CA.

Wrong. We fared badly because bad decisions were made at the executive level.
* When Trump dismissed the virus response team
* When they were given this information. They were briefed in January; Trump et al did; nothing.
* When they decided to let it run it's course rather than pursue aggressive measures immediately. Masks could have been manufactured. Gloves. Cleaning solution manufacturing etc could have been ramped up.
* Wrong information disseminated to the public.
So yeah, a lot of wrong things that had nothing to do with our actual systems, but the fucksticks in the administration.

Dude, your reasons are where Mario said about trump eroding the fail safes away...
As for the systemic problem, perhaps Mario wasn’t as clear... but Clearly voters had an aversion of something. Forget trump, Obama sort of ran an antiestablishment campaign. Voters dislike ‘establishment’ or Hillary for a reason.
People all over the world didn’t just became more nationalistic for no reason. Globalism is the reason why some folks protested.
Trump wasn’t the cause, he’s simply surfing the wave to the WH.
And speaking of WH, that reminded me of WHO, that part of the system has zero trump involvement. Do you believe WHO did their job?
That system didn’t fail the worlds health just as our criminal justice system didn’t fail black people right? It’s all Trumps fault?
