Tried flying into hurricane Laura. Was unable to navigate to the eye, but got some fun pictures out of it.

Just reaching the storm after taking off from Bush airport in Houston

Starting to see something vaguely upsetting

In the storm, castles of clouds all around

Was fun trying to find gaps in the clouds to fly through

Some sun after I accidentally found my way out of the storm and figured out how to turn the interior floodlights on

It seemed pretty quiet, turns out I was too high. I spotted an airport on the nav screen and thought I'd try to land at it, and once I descended into the lower clouds got slammed with rain and knocked all over the place. Did eventually land, but I'm not sure I wouldn't have broken an actual plane, came down really hard with basically no visibility until about 50 feet off the ground.

One thing I'm hoping they sort out was the clouds would update about once a second, and often were changing shape so much that as you got close that it would be pretty jarring as they moved. I'm assuming at some point they can interpolate between each update and make it a smooth transition. As it is, it's kinda like the clouds are very purposefully walking towards you/stomping around.

Still looked cool as hell, though.

    It does

It'll log into a weather report service and simulate the conditions in-game. If you set it to live weather you can connect to all the other players and see them zooming around the sky in your game.

But you can also fiddle with it yourself and make it whatever you want. I had thick driving snow at Uluru last weekend

What sort of FPS are you guys getting?
My new system is around 40fps average on ultra.
It's not really that noticeable that it's as low as that.

45 around cities, up to 60 in rural areas. varies depending on cockpits, and external views as well. But yeah, high FPS isn't really that important. As long as it's above 30, consistent without stutters, it's plenty playable.

    2080Ti, i9 9900k, 32GB RAM. Ultra everything.

I know there are optimizations and certain settings that can help quite a bit without hurting quality as well.

    Check this out:

Around 35-42 fps pretty much everywhere, the cities affect things less than I expected. It's at 4k but I have render scaling at 80.

Settings are basically all "High", GTX 1080, i7-7700k, 16GB RAM.
