Here's a cool Rolling Stone article for my fellow Neil Young fan(s). He and his band played two of his albums straight through at a recent gig in LA.

"The show at the historic Los Angeles venue featured complete performances of 1969's Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and 1975's Tonight's the Night"

Saw The Pixies at the Hollywood Bowl. They were amazing. We didn't have the greatest seats, so I'm not 100% sure, but goddamn if it didn't look like and sound exactly like Kim Deal on bass. There was a big pop of applause when they showed her on the screen, so I'm figuring it was her, but there was no attempt to introduce anybody from the band or have any other crowd banter, it was just "get on stage, play a bunch of songs, get off stage."

    Got intrigued.

    Went to Youtube.

That looks like Paz, not Kim.

Does it? I didn't think it looked at all like Paz, but again, my seats weren't great.

Assuming I'm wrong, Paz sounds exactly like Kim when she's singing. It's eerie.

Yeah, I checked out a couple of vids from the Hollywood Bowl. They're sounding rejuvenated.

The Pixies were my favorite band for years. It made me sad when Kim left and I haven't listened to any of their stuff since then

The recent Rhino records "Let It Bleed" reissue of The Replacements' Tim record is really good. Included are a bunch of b-sides, some fun live tracks (including older songs) recorded around when Tim came out, the normal remastered version of the original tracks, and most interestingly - a complete remixing of the record by somebody who is *not* doing production exclusively through headphones (which was an accusation leveled against the original producer, Tommy Ramone).
Anyway, it's most definitely worth checking out if you're interested in now ancient alt-rock music.

I've given at least cursory listens to their non-Kim catalog, and found it to be fine, I guess. I really feel like Frank needs the tension of somebody to push against creatively to bring his best work to the surface.
Kim otoh, can do no wrong.
