Do it for ($$$) Dale!
I don't believe in retiring numbers except for in extreme cases in any sport or activity.
If Dillon had only done it to Logano, then maybe they would have let it go, that was more of a racing move that is allowed by NASCAR. But he then proceeded to wreck another driver immediately on purpose to get the win. I also think his spotter did not help him. Yelling "Wreck him! Wreck him!" was epically stupid. He still stands as the winner and gets the trophy and prize money but he doesn't get the credit of the win to make the playoffs.
It was absolutely the right decision and I applaud them for making it. But it is also what can happen when you say a team can make the playoffs by winning just one race.
They can still sell Dale Earnhardt merch, which is the merch that will continue to make money for infinity years.
Currently with Austin Dillon in the 3 car he’s just soiling the #3 legacy by being consistently mediocre. There are some fans of his, but the second he retires and RCR puts someone like Austin Hill in that car the merch train will switch roles and pump out slightly different designs.
Basically it doesn’t matter what number is on the side of Dillon’s car. He’s a dogwater nepo-baby who’s only there because his grand-poppy runs the show and has a guaranteed job for life as long as he wants it.
He could make quite a good team president in the future though.
So what you're saying is that Austin Dillon is the Lance Stroll of NASCAR?
The spotter did receive some kind of penalty as well.

SVG will go full time in the Cup series next year driving car #88 for Trackhouse.
There are only 2 of us, a rare species indeed.
Happy for Shane, today's result was pretty shit house and totally out of his control, same with yesterday's race.
It's alright. Daytona always delivers a meme race. Superspeedways be like that.
And I love it.
Very happy for Harrison Burton in the 21. He got the team's 100th win. Fucking awesome!
