Hah, heck of a silver lining.
This will be only the second car I have owned with pop-up headlights. The other being a Nissan 200SX.

The SpecE46 ran it's first competitive TT laps today and came in first in it's class. Not bad for a car with no suspension setup and five year old tires. (Ran on the Nexans Tyler and I took to Nats in 2019)
Small field. T3 had a Porsche 911 Carerra, Nissan 350Z, and Subaru WRX. The WRX put down a faster time than me but had cooling issues and missed a session and fell back to fourth.
The key thing is the car competed all day and I didn't have to open the toolbox. Next event is 2-July, time for serious business.![]()
I got the BMW corner balanced and aligned this week. I had no idea how bad the setup was. It just feels effortless now. The prior setup was almost working against the car. Really excited to take it to the time trial next Sunday.
Last weekend I went down and picked up the 1996 Saturn SC2:
I'll write more about it later, the stuff included with it is very substantial, but in short it's going to be a streetable turbo build that we'll take endurance racing and out to time trial events. At it's peak we're looking at 350hp in a car that will weigh around 2200lbs.
We'll start there but we are more interested in ChampCar. It's a little more serious and less kitchy. And the car has a very low performance value so that leaves us a lot of room to build and not get assigned penalty laps.
TT and Hillclimb is where we will have the big boost fun, though.
The waxer in me is in full cringe mode right now.But congrats on the new project! It should keep you busy now that the BMW is completed and running.
I'll post a video of the first wash in a few weeks. The garage refurb project is taking precedence right now. You can cringe-watch it when it's up, though.![]()
